''Beauty of the Pusta'' (Hungarian: ''Pusztai szél'') is a 1937 Hungarian historical film, historical drama film directed by Steve Sekely and starring Mária Lázár, Pál Jávor (actor), Pál Jávor and Ferenc Kiss (actor), Ferenc Kiss.Cunningham p.227 It is based on a 1931 play of the same title by Sándor Hunyady. Synopsis During the 1880s on the Great Hungarian Plain, the innkeeper Anna has long been in a relationship with a bandit outlaw. Steve Sekely
Steve Sekely (February 25, 1899– March 9, 1979) was a Hungarian film director. Born István Székely, he was known by several names, based on his changing professional and immigration status, including Stefan Szekely. He directed films in Hungarian, German, and English. Biography He worked as a newspaper journalist in Germany, before returning to Hungary in the early 1930s. He directed one of the most famous classic Hungarian films, the frequently revived comedy ''Hyppolit, a lakáj'' (1931). That film was remade in 2000 and the original was later digitally restored and released on DVD. Sekely left pre-war Hungary, fleeing growing fascism and laws restricting rights and professional opportunities for Jews. Zita Szeleczky (born Zita Klára Terézia Szeleczky 20 April 1915 – 12 July 1999) was a Hungary, Hungarian stage actress, stage and film actress. She was discovered by the film studios in 1938 and soon became one of the most popular screen stars, performing in about 30 films between 1938-1944, mostly musical comedies. She was active in war effort and gave many patriotic recitals during the last days of the WW II, when the Soviet troops were already capturing Budapest. As Hungary was taken, she had to fake her own suicide and flee the country, where she in fact was sentenced to prison in absentia by the pro-soviet authorities. She spent years in Italy (where she had also starred in a film), Argentina and USA, but her film career was sadly never revived, even though she remained popular on concert stage. Gyzi ( el, Γκύζη ); is a neighbourhood of Athens, Greece. Etymology The area was named around 1925 after famous painter Nikolaos Gyzis. By all rights, the neighbourhood should have been called Γύζη (). However, due to the fact that he signed his paintings using the Latin alphabet (as he lived in Germany for a time period), this was reabsorbed into the Greek language with the current spelling and pronunciation. History and amenities Gyzi was rapidly urbanised during the 1960s and 1970s.
