Beat the World Records is a record label founded by The Dandy Warhols in Portland, Oregon, in 2008. Early years In 2007 Portland, Oregon band The Dandy Warhols had the idea of starting their own label and signed Portland shoegaze outfit The Upsidedown, followed by indie electropop artist Logan Lynn. In 2008 The Dandy Warhols split with long-time record company Capitol Records and officially launched Beat The World Records as a Caroline Records EMI 3rd-Party label. Rockers Monstrous, indie pop boy band The Hugs, Los Angeles western rock group Spindrift and Dandy guitar rock proteges were signed in the years which followed. The Dandy Warhols
The Dandy Warhols are an American alternative rock band, formed in Portland, Oregon, in 1994 by singer-guitarist Courtney Taylor-Taylor and guitarist Peter Holmström. They were later joined by keyboardist Zia McCabe and drummer Eric Hedford. Hedford left in 1998 and was replaced by Taylor-Taylor's cousin Brent DeBoer. The band's name is a play on the name of American pop artist Andy Warhol. The band gained recognition after they were signed to Capitol Records and released their major label album debut, '' ...The Dandy Warhols Come Down'', in 1997. In 2001, the band rose to new levels of fame after their song "Bohemian Like You" enjoyed extensive exposure due to being featured in a Vodafone advertisement. ''The Dandy Warhols Are Sound'' is the seventh studio album by American alternative rock band The Dandy Warhols. It is the original mix of the band's 2003 album ''Welcome to the Monkey House'', by Grammy Award-winning soul music mixing engineer Russell Elevado. It was released on July 14, 2009, through the band's own label Beat the World Records. Background Before the release of ''Welcome to the Monkey House'', the band had been pressing for a version mixed by Elevado, whose credits include D'Angelo's ''Brown Sugar'', The Roots' ''The Roots Come Alive'', Common's '' Like Water for Chocolate'' and Alicia Keys' ''Songs in A Minor'', along with some others. The Elevado mix of ''Monkey House'' was shelved by Capitol Records and an alternate mix by Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran was put out instead. Pete International Airport is an American neo-psychedelia band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 1997 by Peter Holmström of The Dandy Warhols. Original line-up includes Jsun Adams (The Upsidedown) on vocals, Collin Hegna (The Brian Jonestown Massacre) on bass guitar, Jason "El Firme Plucky" Anchondo (The Warlocks, Spindrift) on drums and Paulie Pulvirenti, also on drums. In 2010 they released their debut self-titled album. Music videos were produced for three of the album's tracks, including "21 Days", which premiered on Spinner.com on 7 September 2010. ''This Machine'' is the eighth studio album by American rock band The Dandy Warhols. It was released on April 24, 2012, by record label The End. The album features a more stripped-down, laid-back style than much of the band's previous work. Background and recording While playing at Sydney's Enmore Theatre in May 2011 as part of their 2011 Australian tour, lead singer Courtney Taylor-Taylor announced the new album would be titled ''This Machine'' and is to be released in February 2012 (Taylor-Taylor had previously jokingly announced it as ''The Pastor of Muppets'', ''Shitty Shitty Band Band'' or ''Whirled Piece'' in blog posts on the band's official website). Russell Elevado (born 1966 in the Philippines) is a recording engineer and record producer based in New York City. Accolades Russell Elevado has a catalog of 50 full albums from the over 100 albums in his discography. Elevado earned a Grammy Award in 2000 for his work recording and mixing contemporary R&B recording artist D'Angelo's critically acclaimed album ''Voodoo''. ''Voodoo'' is now considered a classic album in the contemporary R&B genre and paved the way for the neo soul movement.
