Bear Brook (Ontario)
Bear Brook (french: ruisseau Bear) is a small stream in the municipalities of Clarence-Rockland and The Nation, United Counties of Prescott and Russell, and the city of Ottawa in eastern Ontario, Canada. It forms in the fields and forests just north of Edwards, and flows in a mostly eastern direction to its mouth as a left tributary of the South Nation River. Communities along the brook include Edwards, Carlsbad Springs, Bearbrook, Cheney, and Bourget. History In the mid 19th century, the Bear Brook was used by loggers for floating timber to sawmills, a few of which operated in Carlsbad Springs from 1854 to 1905. It was also used by settlers for transportation to their homesteads. However the brook was too small and dry in the summer, and its use for transportation was quickly discontinued upon completion of Russell Road. River Thame
The River Thame is a river in Southern England. A tributary of the River Thames, the river runs generally south-westward for about from its source above the Buckinghamshire town of Aylesbury to the Thames in south-east Oxfordshire. Course Three streams which rise within the Vale of Aylesbury, on the northwest side of the Chiltern Hills, join to form the Thame to the east of the small village of Hulcott, north of Aylesbury. The Thame played a key role in the English Civil War when John Hampden (the town's Member of Parliament) led the force of Parliamentarians successfully defending Aylesbury at the Battle of Holman's Bridge, where a small road crosses the river, in 1642. Bear Brook (Suncook River Tributary)
Bear Brook is a stream located in central New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Suncook River, part of the Merrimack River (and therefore Gulf of Maine) watershed. Its entire course is within Bear Brook State Park. Bear Brook begins at the outlet of Hall Mountain Marsh near the four-corner intersection of the towns of Allenstown, Deerfield, Candia, and Hooksett. The brook descends to the north, through Deerfield, then turns west and reenters Allenstown. Nearing Deerfield Road, the brook is impounded by Catamount Pond, with a state park beach and picnic area. The brook flows northwest from the pond and reaches the Suncook River in less than a mile. Bear Brook is a tributary of Pascack Brook in New Jersey. It joins with the Pascack at the Woodcliff Lake Reservoir and forms part of the border between Park Ridge and Woodcliff Lake. The brook flows through portions of Bergen County in New Jersey and its headwaters lay in Rockland County, New York. In Park Ridge, a park named Atkins Glen surrounds a portion of the brook and is home to several shallow caverns, in some of which Native American artifacts have been found. Bear Brook State Park is a Nature reserve, preserve in Allenstown, New Hampshire, and neighboring towns. It is one of New Hampshire's largest state parks. Bear Brook Murders
The Bear Brook murders (also referred to as the Allenstown Four) are female American murder victims, two discovered in 1985 and two in 2000, at Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown, New Hampshire, United States. All four of the victims were either partially or completely skeletonized; they were believed to have died between 1977 and 1981. In 2017, investigators named Terry Peder Rasmussen as the most likely suspect. Rasmussen's identity was confirmed via DNA from a son from his first marriage. He was also confirmed, via DNA, to be the father of a 2-to-4-year-old girl who was one of the Bear Brook victims. Rasmussen is believed to be responsible for several other murders, including that of Denise Beaudin, his known girlfriend, who disappeared in 1981. Rasmussen was convicted and sentenced for the murder in 2002 of his then-wife, Eunsoon Jun; he died in prison in 2010. Background Season 1 In 1985, two bodies were found in a blue barrel in the woods of Allenstown, New Hampshire, in Bear Brook State Park. In 2000, a second barrel was found containing two more bodies. It was determined that the bodies were that of a woman and three young girls. In 2015, Jason Moon began reporting on the murders after it was announced that authorities were using new forensic techniques in order to try to identify the bodies.
