''Beams'' is the debut studio album by Australian electronic dance music duo The Presets, released in September 2005 by record label Modular. Reception The album received mixed to positive reviews. AllMusic called the album an "uneasy yet unforgettable combination of '80s gaudy pop flair and dark, propulsive rave beats". ''Pitchfork'', on the other hand, gave it a low 3.7/10 rating, writing "the most frustrating thing about ''Beams'' is that Moyes and Hamilton both know better". The Presets
The Presets are an Australian electronic music duo of Julian Hamilton (vocals, keyboards) and Kim Moyes (drums, keyboards). Formed in 2003 and signed to Modular Recordings, Modular Records, The Presets released two EPs (''Blow Up (EP), Blow Up'', ''Girl and the Sea'') in advance of their debut album, ''Beams (The Presets album), Beams'', released in 2005 to positive critical response. After two years of touring, including as the Australian support for Daft Punk, the band's 2008 release, ''Apocalypso (The Presets album), Apocalypso'', debuted at number one on the ARIA Charts, ARIA Albums Chart, and went on to win six awards at ARIA Music Awards of 2008, ARIA Awards 2008, including Album of the Year. The iTunes Store is a digital media store operated by Apple Inc. It opened on April 28, 2003, as a result of Steve Jobs' push to open a digital marketplace for music. Kimberley Isaac Moyes is an Australian musician, producer, mix engineer, composer, songwriter, DJ and one half of the Sydney-based electronica duo, The Presets (with Julian Hamilton). Julian Thomas Hamilton (born September 1976) is an Australian singer-songwriter and keyboardist, who, with bandmate Kim Moyes, formed the electronica duo, The Presets in 2003. They have issued four studio albums, '' Beams'' (September 2005), '' Apocalypso'' (April 2008), '' Pacifica'' (September 2012), and '' Hi Viz'' (June 2018).
