Beach Volleyball At The 2018 Commonwealth Games
Beach volleyball at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held on the Gold Coast, Australia from 6 to 12 April. The beach volleyball competition was held at Coolangatta Beachfront. This was the first time that Beach Volleyball was held at the Commonwealth Games. A total of twelve men's and twelve women's teams are scheduled to compete (48 athletes, at 2 per team) in each respective tournament. Mariafe Artacho Del Solar
Mariafe Artacho del Solar (born 24 October 1993) is an Australian beach volleyball player. She represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2021. Artacho del Solar plays as a right-side defender. According to the Women's FIVB World Rankings, she and partner Taliqua Clancy are ranked 5th as of 21 January 2020. Early life Artacho del Solar moved with her mother from Lima, Peru, to Sydney when she was 11 years old. They joined her older brother and extended family already living there. She spoke limited English and found that sport was the best way to communicate. The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Rankings is a ranking system for men's and women's national teams in beach volleyball. The teams of the member nations of the FIVB, beach volleyball and volleyball's world governing body, are ranked based on their competition results with the most successful teams being ranked highest. The ranking is based on the 8 best results over the last 365 days. They are updated every Monday after an FIVB recognized event.
