Redondo Beach (Spanish for ''round'') is a coastal city in Los Angeles County, California, United States, located in the South Bay region of the Greater Los Angeles area. Hermosa Beach Pier
The Hermosa Beach pier is located in the Southern California community of Hermosa Beach. It extends into the Pacific Ocean. In 1904 the first pier was built. It was constructed entirely of wood even to the pilings and it extended five hundred feet out into the ocean. The pier was constructed by the Hermosa Beach Land and Water Company. In 1913 this old pier was partly washed away and later torn down and a new one built to replace it. This pier was built of concrete 1,000 feet (300 m) long, and paved with asphalt its entire length. Small tiled pavilions were erected at intervals along the sides to afford shade for fishing and picnic parties. A bait stand was built eventually out on the end. Soon after, about 1914, an auditorium building was constructed; it has housed various enterprises and at present the public rest rooms, the Los Angeles Lifeguard Service, and the local branch of the LA County Library occupy rooms in the building. Manhattan Village is a neighborhood in Manhattan Beach, California, founded in 1985. It was the "last major parcel available for development" in the city Its construction was said to signify "the passing of an era – the removal of oil tanks and the beginning of development of more than 100 acres of formerly bare ground." Douglas station is an elevated light rail station on the C Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located over Douglas Street, after which it is named, near Park Place and one block north of Rosecrans Avenue in El Segundo, California. It opened with the commencement of Green Line service on August 12, 1995. By 2024, Douglas station will be served by the K Line after it gets extended to Redondo Beach and the C Line gets rerouted to LAX Airport at the future LAX/Metro Transit Center station. Aviation/LAX station is an elevated light rail station on the C Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located over Aviation Boulevard, after which the station is named, near its intersection with Imperial Highway and just south of Century Freeway in El Segundo, California. A free LAX Shuttle bus connects this station to Los Angeles International Airport; however, when the K Line fully opens in 2024, this shuttle will be replaced by the LAX Automated People Mover which will connect with LAX/Metro Transit Center station, and the current Aviation/LAX station will then be renamed Aviation/Imperial station.
