Bazaar (1982 Film)
''Bazaar'' ( hi, बाज़ार; en, Market) is a 1982 Indian drama film directed by Sagar Sarhadi and starring Naseeruddin Shah, Farooq Shaikh, Smita Patil and Supriya Pathak. The film set in Hyderabad, India, highlights the issue of bride buying in India, through the tragedy of a young girl being sold by needy parents to affluent expatriate Indians in the Gulf. p. 25. Sagar Sarhadi
Sagar Sarhadi (11 May 1933 – 22 March 2021) was an Indian short story and play writer, and a writer, director and producer for film. Born in Baffa (then in British India and now in Pakistan), he began writing Urdu short stories and then continued as an Urdu playwright. Sagar Sarhadi was Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award at ICA - International Cultural Artifact Film Festival in 2019 by Ashghar Wajahat. He became popular in films with Yash Chopra's '' Kabhi Kabhi'' (1976), starring Amitabh Bachchan and Raakhee. Yunus Parvez
Yunus Parvez (1931/1932 – 11 February 2007) was an Indian actor who played supporting roles in over 200 films from the late 1960s to the 2000s. He is best known for his roles in films like ''Garm Hava'' (1974), ''Deewaar'' (1975), '' Trishul'' (1978), ''Gol Maal'' (1979) and '' Mr. India'' (1987). The 30th Filmfare Awards were held on 25 September 1983. ''Prem Rog'' led the ceremony with 12 nominations, followed by ''Nikaah'' with 11 nominations, and ''Bazaar'' and ''Shakti'' with 7 nominations each. ''Prem Rog'' and ''Shakti'' won 4 awards each, thus becoming the most-awarded films at the ceremony, with the former winning Best Director (for Raj Kapoor) and Best Actress (for Padmini Kolhapure), and the latter winning Best Film and Best Actor (for Dilip Kumar). ''Dastak'' () is a Hindi film made in 1970. It was written and directed by Rajinder Singh Bedi and was his directorial debut. The film is known for its performances by its leading cast, Sanjeev Kumar, and the newcomer, Rehana Sultan, and for its memorable songs by Madan Mohan. Pamela Chopra
Pamela Chopra (born 1938) is an Indian playback singer. She is the wife of veteran Bollywood film director Yash Chopra. She has also written and produced several films. Early life Chopra was born as Pamela Singh, the daughter of Mohinder Singh, an officer in the Indian Army. The eldest of three children, she has two younger brothers. Since her father was posted in several remote locations all over India, Chopra was educated at several army schools. She is a cousin of the actress Simi Garewal. Makhdoom Mohiuddin
Makhdoom Mohiuddin, or Abu Sayeed Mohammad Makhdoom Mohiuddin Khudri, (4 February 1908 – 25 August 1969) was an Urdu poet and Marxist political activist of India who founded the Progressive Writers Union in Hyderabad and was active with the Comrades Association and the Communist Party of India, and at the forefront of the 1946–1947 Telangana Rebellion against the Nizam of the erstwhile Hyderabad state. Talat Aziz ( ur, طلعت عزیز; born 11 November 1956) is a popular ghazal singer from Hyderabad, India. Early life Aziz was born in Hyderabad, India to Abdul Azeem Khan and Sajida Abid, a famous Urdu writer and poet. He attended Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet and then joined the Indian Institute of Management and Commerce for his B.Com. (Hons) Course. Bashar Nawaz
Bashar Nawaz (18 August 1935 – 9 July 2015) was an Indian Urdu poet and lyricist, who penned the song ''Karoge Yaad'' in the Bollywood film Bazaar. He picked up the "Pulotsav Samman" and Ghalib Award for his contribution to Urdu literature. Career He had written lyrics for a few Hindi films such as 'Bazaar', 'Lori' and 'Jane Wafa'. Ghulam Ali, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd Aziz, Asha Bhosale, Talat Aziz, Bhupinder and Mehdi Hasan among others have given voice to his Ghazals. Bhupinder Singh (musician)
Bhupinder Singh (born Bhupinder Soin, 6 February 1940 – 18 July 2022) was an Indian musician, a ghazal singer and also a Bollywood playback singer. Early life Bhupinder Singh was born in Amritsar, Punjab to Natha Singhji, a musician and his introducer to music. Bhupinder's father was a stern teacher, and at one point, he detested music and its instruments. Music career Singh started his career as a casual artist for All India Radio under the direction of Satish Bhatia. He also worked at Doordarshan Center, New Delhi. He also learnt guitar. In 1962, music director Madan Mohan heard him at a dinner hosted by Satish Bhatia in his honour (Satish Bhatia was Producer in AIR Delhi and Singh was working under him as a guitarist), and called him to Bombay. Mir Taqi Mir
Mir Muhammad Taqi (February 1723 – 20 September 1810), known as Mir Taqi Mir (also spelled Meer Taqi Meer), was an Urdu poet of the 18th century Mughal era in the Subcontinent and one of the pioneers who gave shape to the Urdu language itself. His father's name was Meer Muttaqi. After his father's death, his step-Brothers took control over his property. Jagjit Kaur
Jagjit Kaur (May 1930 – 15 August 2021) was an Indian Hindi/Urdu singer and was married to the music director, Mohammed Zahur Khayyam. Personal life and death Kaur belonged to an aristocratic family from Punjab. She married composer Mohammed Zahur Khayyam in 1954, one of the first inter-communal marriages in the Indian film industry. They had a son, Pradeep, who died of a heart attack in 2012. Inspired by their son's helping nature, they started a trust, "Khayyam Jagjit Kaur KPG Charitable Trust" to help artistes and technicians in need. Khayyam died on 19 August 2019 following a cardiac arrest at the age of 92. Kaur died on 15 August 2021 at the age of 91.
