Bayside Sharks
Bayside Rugby Football Club (nicknamed Bayside Sharks) is a Canadian rugby union club that is based in White Rock, British Columbia. Established in 1988, the club regularly competes in the top division of British Columbia rugby and has contributed many players to representative teams at the provincial as well as international level. The club will play in the British Columbia Premiership for the 2012-13 season. History The Bayside Sharks Rugby Football Club was born through the merging of the Tsawwassen and Semiahmoo Old Boys (SOB'S) rugby clubs in 1988. Since that time the club has found themselves in the British Columbia Premiership final twice, unfortunately coming out empty handed both times. The Sharks won promotion to the premier division of British Columbia rugby for the 2012-13 season despite a 36-24 loss against Vancouver Rowing Club in the 2011-12 BC League One final. White Rock, British Columbia
White Rock is a city in British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. It borders Semiahmoo Bay to the south and is surrounded on three sides by Surrey. To the southeast across a footbridge lies the Semiahmoo First Nation, which is within the borders of Surrey. Semiahmoo Bay and the Southern Gulf Islands in the Strait of Georgia are also to the south. White Rock is named for a large white boulder on its beach near the promenade, a glacial erratic that migrated south during the last glaciation. The 486-ton granite boulder was kept white by shellfish-eating seabirds whose guano covered the rock so much that 19th-century sailors used it as a beacon. South Surrey Athletic Park
South Surrey Athletic Park is a popular recreational park in the White Rock/South Surrey community. The park is bound by 18th avenue to the south, 148th street to the east, 24th avenue to the North and Sunnyside Urban Acres Forest to the west. The park has three baseball diamonds, an indoor baseball training facility, tennis and volleyball courts, a number of grass and artificial turf soccer fields and an outdoor red urethane oval track. There are also four multi-purpose fields adjacent to Semiahmoo Secondary School that are commonly used for football, rugby and soccer. The British Columbia Men's Premier League is a provincial rugby union competition currently contested by twelve clubs in British Columbia, Canada and one in the U.S. state of Washington. The BC Premier League is organized by the British Columbia Rugby Union. The league currently consists of teams from the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and Washington state. Clubs play each other twice throughout the regular season. The top six teams are then seeded and qualify for two rounds of playoffs. The top two teams from the semi-finals then face each other at the BC Rugby Club Finals in May. History The teams compete for the prestigious Rounsefell Cup. The trophy was donated by F.W. Rounsefell, a Vancouver insurance broker and financier and former British Columbia rugby star. The Rounsefell Cup was first awarded to the Central Athletic Club in March 1922. Vancouver Rowing Club (VRC) is a rowing (sport), rowing club in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Originally formed in 1886 as the Vancouver Boating Club, the first clubhouse was built a year later. In 1890 one of the city's early athletic rivalries began when the Burrard Inlet Rowing Club built its headquarters just west of the Boating Club. Coal Harbour became the scene of many colourful rowing regattas. On April 1, 1899, the two rival clubs amalgamated to form the Vancouver Rowing Club.
