Bayraklı is a metropolitan district of İzmir and a district of İzmir Province in Turkey. Bayraklı was turned into a district by a decree of the Government of Turkey on March 6, 2008. Previously, it was a quarter within İzmir's Karşıyaka district. Bayraklı Tunnels
Bayraklı Tunnels ( tr, Bayraklı Tünelleri), formerly Karşıyaka Tunnels, are two motorway tunnels in series located on the İzmir's northern beltway, motorway , in Bayraklı district between Karşıyaka and Bornova of Izmir Province, western Turkey. The tunnels were built by Kutlutaş- Dillingham Consortium, and the construction completed on 30 April 1999. However, the construction of the motorway lasted until 2007. Along with the motorway, the tunnels were opened to traffic on 19 January 2007. The official opening took place in presence of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 4 February 2007. Named initially Karşıyaka Tunnels, they were renamed later to Bayraklı Tunnels upon the request of the Bayraklı district's governor. Smyrna
Smyrna ( ; grc, Σμύρνη, Smýrnē, or , ) was a Greek city located at a strategic point on the Aegean coast of Anatolia. Due to its advantageous port conditions, its ease of defence, and its good inland connections, Smyrna rose to prominence. The name of the city since about 1930 is İzmir. İzmir Province
İzmir Province ( tr, İzmir ili) is a province and metropolitan municipality of Turkey in western Anatolia, situated along the Aegean coast. Its capital is the city of İzmir, which is in itself composed of the province's central 11 districts out of 30 in total. Karşıyaka
Karşıyaka () is a district of İzmir Province in Turkey. The district extends for twelve kilometres along the northern and eastern coastline of the tip of the Gulf of İzmir. Its centre is at a distance of to the north from the traditional centre of İzmir, which is Konak Square in Konak, İzmir, Konak at the opposite coast. Karşıyaka's district area neighbours the district areas of Menemen to the north, Bornova to the east and Çiğli to the west.
