Battle Of Trostianets
The battle of Trostianets was a military engagement during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The city of Trostianets, in Sumy Oblast, was attacked by Russian forces of the 1st Guards Tank Army in late February as part of the Northeastern Ukraine offensive. Occupied for just over a month, it was re-captured by Ukrainian forces in late March, with the 1st Guards being badly mauled in the processes. Battle Russian offensive Trostianets was attacked on the first day of the invasion, 24 February. Ukrainian territorial defense forces felled trees on the main routes into town, slowing the Russian advance. After fighting, the city was captured by Russian forces on 1 March 2022. Northeastern Ukraine Offensive
The northeastern Ukraine campaign was a theatre of operation from 24 February to 8 April 2022 in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine for control of two provinces (oblasts) in Ukraine — Chernihiv Oblast and Sumy Oblast. On 4 April 2022, Ukrainian authorities said that Russian troops had mostly withdrawn from Sumy Oblast and no longer occupied any towns or villages in the area. Later that evening Ukrainian authorities claimed that Russian forces had withdrawn from Chernihiv Oblast, which was confirmed by the Pentagon by 6 April. In addition, it took place from February 24th to May 14th in Kharkiv Oblast. A military column is a formation of soldiers marching together in one or more files in which the file is significantly longer than the width of ranks in the formation. The Donetsk People's Militia and Luhansk People's Militia (formerly also called Russian separatist forces in Donbas) are pro-Russian paramilitaries in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, which have been fighting the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Russo-Ukrainian War. Trostyanets-Smorodyne (Ukrainian: Тростянець-Смородине), until 1893 Trostyanets and preceding 2018 Smorodyne is a railway station in Trostyanets, Ukraine. It is a major passenger station on the Southern Railways Boromlya-Kyrykivka line. It is located in the center of Trostyanets. The station is located away from Skryahivka and away from Bakyrivka. History The Smorodyne section of the Kharkiv-Mykolaiv railway was created from 1871 to 1877. To organize train and shunting work in 1877, a locomotive depot was built and 12 locomotives were purchased. The station was founded in 1878 and was originally called Trostyanets.
