Bassam Tahhan is a Syrian-born French professor of Arabic literature and expert on the Quran. he taught at the Henri IV secondary school in Paris. Tahhan advocates a Protestant reformation in Islam. He defines a "Protestant Islam," as "Islam that allows freedom of thought and permits questioning the Sunna, abrogating hadiths not grounded in the Koran, and reinterpreting the Koran in light of modern values." Ibn Bassam
Ibn Bassām or Ibn Bassām al-Shantarinī (; 1058-1147) was an Arab poet and historian from al-Andalus. He was born in Santarém (sometimes spelled Shantarin or Xantarin) and hailed from the Banu Taghlib tribe. He died in 1147. Ibn Bassam describes how the incessant invasions of the Castillans forced him to run away from Santarém in Portugal, "the last of the cities of the west," after seeing his lands ravaged and his wealth destroyed, a ruined man with no possessions save his battered sword. Especially well known is his anthology (The Treasury concerning the Merits of the People of Iberia) one of the most important sources of information in the field of history, literature and culture of the Almoravid dynasty. Bassam Zuamut ( ar, بسام زعمط, he, בסאם זועמוט; March 27, 1951 – October 16, 2004) was a Palestinian Israeli Arab actor and screenwriter. Biography Zuamut was born in Jerusalem. He studied acting at Beth Rothschild. Zuamut participated in many theater productions of the Jerusalem Khan Theatre, such as: "Antigone", "Measure for Measure" and "Abu Nimer stories" by Dahn Ben-Amotz.
