Basketball At The 2010 Central American And Caribbean Games
The Basketball competition at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games was held in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. The men's tournament was scheduled to be held from 24–30 July, the women's tournament was scheduled to be held from 18–23 July at the Palacio de Recreación y Deportes, the Raymond Dalmau Coliseum and the Arquelio Torres Coliseum all in Porta del Sol. 2010 Central American And Caribbean Games
The 21st Central American and Caribbean Games (Spanish: ''XXI Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, Mayagüez 2010'') took place in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, from 18 July 2010 to 1 August 2010. Bid It was understood that Mayagüez was going to be the only city to ask to hold the games, so that there was going to be no need for a vote in the assembly held in Havana, Cuba in 2004. The Palacio de Recreación y Deportes German Wilkins Vélez Ramírez is a coliseum located in the city of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. It has capacity for 5,500 spectators. It was remodeled in preparation for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. In March 2008, José Guillermo Rodríguez, mayor of the city, announced in a concert given by Wilkins Vélez, Wilkins that after the Central American and Caribbean Games the arena would have the name of Germán Wilkins Vélez Ramírez, commonly known as "Wilkins". Raymond Dalmau Coliseum is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. The coliseum is home to the Piratas de Quebradillas, which competes in Puerto Rico's Baloncesto Superior Nacional.
