The teams returned to their typical training sites in 1952. Tampa Tampa has hosted spring training for seven teams: the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Ch ...

Tampa Bay Area
The Tampa Bay area is a major populated area surrounding Tampa Bay on the west coast of Florida in the United States. It includes the main cities of Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater. It is the 18th largest metropolitan area in the United States, with a population of 3,175,275 as of the 2020 U.S. Census. The exact boundaries of the metro area can differ in different contexts. Hillsborough County and Pinellas County (including the cities of Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and several smaller communities) make up the most limited definition. Huggins-Stengel Field
Huggins-Stengel Field (formerly known as Crescent Lake Field or Miller Huggins Field) is a baseball field located within Crescent Lake Park in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States. It was originally constructed in 1925 as a Spring Training practice field for the New York Yankees and later hosted the New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles. The Yankees held spring training home games in St Petersburg at the field until their move to Al Lang Stadium in 1947. The field is currently used for various high school and collegiate baseball games. The facility was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. History Yankees era 1925-1942 The New York Yankees christened the facility in 1925 under manager Miller Huggins. After the passing of their great manager, the field was renamed Miller Huggins Field in 1931. Featured during this time were Babe Ruth, Lou Ge ...

Al Lang Field
Al Lang Stadium is a 7,500-seat sports stadium along the waterfront of downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, United States which was used almost exclusively as a baseball park for over 60 years. Since 2011, it has been the home pitch of the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USL Championship soccer league. Al Lang Stadium was built in 1947 at the site of an older facility known as St. Petersburg Athletic Park. It is named in honor of Al Lang, a former mayor of St. Petersburg who was instrumental in bringing minor league and spring training baseball to the city in the early 20th century. Al Lang Stadium was the spring training home of the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball from 1948 until 1997, with other teams occasionally sharing use of the facility for a few seasons at a time. During the summer, the ballpark was the home field for the Cardinal's minor league franchise in the Florida State League. The Cardinals moved out in 1998, when St. Petersburg gained their own MLB team and the ...
