''Basanta Bilap'' is a 1973 Indian Bengali language Romantic comedy film directed by Dinen Gupta, based on a story by writer Bimal Kar. Sumitra Mukherjee (30 March 1949 – 21 May 2003) was an Indian Bengali actress who was recognized for her work in Bengali cinema. Her on-screen pairings with actors such as Ranjit Mallick, Uttam Kumar, Soumitra Chatterjee, Santu Mukhopadhyay and Dipankar Dey were popular. Early life Born on 30 March 1949, Sumitra Mukherjee was also known as Hashi (Smile). Prabodh Chandra Dey (May 1, 1919 − October 24, 2013), known by his stage name Manna Dey, was an internationally acclaimed and celebrated Indian playback singer, music director, and a musician. Chinmoy Roy
Chinmoy Roy (1940–2019) was an Indian Bengali male actor. He was famous for his comic roles in Bengali movies, though his versatility has allowed him to play a variety of roles. Though he was known for portraying various character roles, Roy was equally at ease in portraying the famous fictional character Tenida on screen. He held his own among prominent performers like Soumitra Chatterjee, Robi Ghose and Tarun Kumar in the comedies ''Basanto Bilap'', ''Dhonni Meye'', and ''Nanigopaler Biye''. He was also seen in a small role in Satyajit Ray's '' Goopy Gyne o Bagha Byne'', in which he portrayed a spy working for the Minister of Halla. Roy had to contend with chronic health problems.
