Lawrence Bartell
Lawrence Sims Bartell (23 February 1923, Ann Arbor, Michigan – 8 September 2017, Ann Arbor) was the Philip J. Elving Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at the University of Michigan. His research in physical chemistry focused on electron diffraction studies of molecular structure and later on molecular mechanics. Bartell retired from his faculty position at Michigan in 1993. Early life and education Bartell was born on February 23, 1923, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of noted University of Michigan chemistry professor Floyd Bartell. The younger Bartell briefly attended the University of North Carolina as an undergraduate before returning to complete his studies at the University of Michigan, from which he received his B.S. in 1944. "The Dead" is the final short story in the 1914 collection ''Dubliners'' by James Joyce. It is by far the longest story in the collection and, at 15,952 words, is almost long enough to be described as a novella. The story deals with themes of love and loss, as well as raising questions about the nature of the Irish identity. The story was well-received by critics and academics and reputedly described by T. 2003 Rocori High School Shooting
The Rocori High School shooting was a school shooting that occurred at Rocori High School on September 24, 2003 in Cold Spring, Minnesota, United States. The shooter was identified as 15 year-old freshman John Jason McLaughlin, who murdered 14-year-old freshman Seth Bartell and 17-year-old senior Aaron Rollins. Prior to the shooting, McLaughlin was described as "quiet and withdrawn". Shooting McLaughlin (born July 19, 1988) arrived at school with a loaded Colt .22-caliber handgun with the intention of killing Bartell, whom McLaughlin claimed bullied him over his acne. McLaughlin met Bartell and Rollins as they were exiting the school locker room. He shot at Bartell, hitting him in the chest. Ronald Bartell (born February 22, 1982) is a former American football cornerback. He was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Jason Bartell (AKA Mythless) is an American musician, multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and visual-artist who came to prominence as a guitarist and songwriter for Fang Island. After Fang Island quietly disbanded in 2015, he began to produce new music as Mythless, signing with Joyful Noise Recordings and releasing his first solo-EP ("Patience Hell") in March 2018. “Once things slowed down [with Fang Island] and eventually stopped, it became more imperative for me to have an outlet, so I started to focus on Mythless. The Bartell Drug Company, commonly known as Bartell Drugs and referred to by locals as simply "Bartell's", is a chain of pharmacies in the Puget Sound area of Washington state. Bartell Drug stores primarily serve the Seattle area. Bartell's was believed to be the nation's oldest existing family-owned drugstore chain until it was sold to Rite Aid in 2020. 1890 to 1956 Bartell Drugs was founded in 1890 when George H. Floyd Bartell
Floyd Earl Bartell (1883-1961) was a chemist who spent his entire academic career at the University of Michigan. He specialized in the study of colloids. Early life and education Bartell was born on June 16, 1883, in Concord, Michigan. He was an undergraduate at Albion College and graduated in 1905. After a short period as an instructor of chemistry at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, Bartell returned to Michigan and began graduate studies in chemistry at the University of Michigan. He received his Ph.D. in 1910. Academic career After finishing his Ph.D., Bartell remained at the University of Michigan as faculty, reaching full professorship in 1924.
