''Barsaat'' (English: ''Rain'') is a 1949 Indian Hindi-language film directed by Raj Kapoor. The film stars the famous duo of Kapoor and Nargis as well as Prem Nath. It was also the introduction of actress Nimmi in her first film role. ''Barsaat'' was one of the first major hit films directed by Kapoor. This success allowed Kapoor to buy RK Studios in 1950. This was Raj Kapoor's second directional venture after Aag. Barsaat became the highest-grossing movie in Indian cinema at the time of its release beating Mehboob Khan's Andaz which released 2 months earlier. Plot The film revolves around two love stories. Pran (Raj Kapoor) and Reshma (Nargis) and Gopal (Prem Nath) and Neela (Nimmi). ''Barsaat'' () is a 2005 Bollywood romantic drama film directed by Suneel Darshan. It stars Bobby Deol, Priyanka Chopra, and Bipasha Basu. The plot of the movie is loosely based on the 2002 movie ''Sweet Home Alabama (film), Sweet Home Alabama''. Plot Arav is an ambitious young Indian whose dream is to design cars. He travels to the United States seeking greener pastures, where he meets the beautiful Anna, a firm believer in destiny. A Muslim-social set amongst the erudite and cultured urban Muslims of independent India, ''Barsaat Ki Raat'' revolves around two lovers Shabnam (Madhubala) and Amaan Hyderabadi (Bhushan), who strive to be together but the society does not approve of them. Upon its release, the film became a blockbuster success, the second highest earner of 1960, the twenty highest earner of the 1960s at the Indian box office, and one of the top hundred highest-grossers of all time (when adjusted for inflation).
