Barry L. Houser
Barry Lee Houser (born June 21, 1977) is an American musician and conductor who is the current director of the University of Illinois Marching Illini. Houser is also the current Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Along with serving as the director of the Marching Illini, his duties include conducting the Illinois Wind Orchestra, the basketball and volleyball bands, while also teaching other courses in the School of Music. Houser is often called upon to serve as an ambassador for the University. He is also known for being knowledgeable on the history of the University of Illinois Bands and is an advocate for furthering the program’s legacy of innovation. Memorial Stadium (Champaign)
Memorial Stadium is a stadium on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Champaign, Illinois, United States. The stadium, used primarily for football, is a memorial to the university's students who died in World War I; their names are engraved on the nearly 200 pillars surrounding the stadium's façade. With a capacity of 60,670, the stadium is primarily used as the home of the university's Fighting Illini football team. Construction In the early 1920s, the old football stadium, Illinois Field, was deemed inadequate. There was some sentiment for retaining the site, but it was too congested to expand the stadium adequately, so a new site was selected, in a largely undeveloped area at the south end of the campus. Eastern Illinois University is a public university in Charleston, Illinois. Established in 1895 as the Eastern Illinois State Normal School, a teacher's college offering a two-year degree, Eastern Illinois University gradually expanded into a comprehensive university with a broad curriculum, including bachelor's and master's degrees in education, business, arts, sciences, and humanities. Macy's Great American Marching Band is composed of high school music students from throughout the United States, selected by audition. Background The band is directed by Richard Good of Auburn University. The Pride Of The Sunshine
The University of Florida Fightin' Gator Marching Band, also known as The Pride of the Sunshine, is the official marching band for the University of Florida. The current era of the band is also referred to as The Sound of the Gator Nation. They perform at every Florida Gators home football game at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and also at various other events such as pep rallies, parades, and the annual Orange and Blue spring scrimmage game. A full band usually travels to two away games a year while at other games a small/medium-sized pep band will attend. Members of the Gator Band, as well as other University of Florida students, are encouraged to join other ensembles such as concert band, jazz band, basketball band, and volleyball band. South Bend
South Bend is a city in and the county seat of St. Joseph County, Indiana, on the St. Joseph River near its southernmost bend, from which it derives its name. As of the 2020 census, the city had a total of 103,453 residents and is the fourth-largest city in Indiana. The metropolitan area had a population of 324,501 in 2020, while its combined statistical area had 812,199. The city is located just south of Indiana's border with Michigan.
