Barjac, Ariège
Barjac () is a commune in the Ariège department, Occitania, southwestern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Barjacois'' or ''Barjacoises'' . Geography Barjac is located in the old Volvestre region of Languedoc some 10 km north of Saint-Girons and 60 km south by south-west of Toulouse. Access to the commune is by route D303A which branches off the D3 west of the commune and passes through the commune east then south to join the D303 to La Crouzette south-east of the commune. It is a part of the Natural Regional Park of Pyrénées ariégeoises. The commune is mixed forest and farmland. Barjac, Gard
Barjac () is a commune in the Gard department in southern France. The valley of the river Cèze lies to the south, and the river Ardèche is to the north. Barjac is a Renaissance town. The old city centre retains ancient narrow streets, squares and houses of that time. The with its stone courtyard, once called the "Citadel", has been rebuilt several times from the twelfth century. This imposing edifice now features a library in the former stables, and a cinema in the old kitchens. The chateau is the venue for the festival "Chansons de Paroles" (Songs and Words) held annually in late July. The contemporary German artist Anselm Kiefer has had his studio, called the Ribaute, in Barjac since 1993 in a former industrial wasteland of 35 hectares.
