Barik Card
Barik () is rechargeable contactless smart card, electronic money used for public transport in Biscay (Spain). It was launched on 2012 as successor of Creditrans travel card. Biscay
Biscay (; eu, Bizkaia ; es, Vizcaya ) is a province of Spain and a historical territory of the Basque Country, heir of the ancient Lordship of Biscay, lying on the south shore of the eponymous bay. The capital and largest city is Bilbao. Biscay is one of the most renowned and prosperous provinces of Spain, historically a major trading hub in the Atlantic Ocean since medieval times and, later on, one of the largest industrial and financial centers of the Iberian peninsula. BizkaiBus
BizkaiBus is the name for bus services serving the province of Biscay, Spain. It is named after the Basque name of the province, ''Bizkaia''. The buses can be identified by their distinctive green (until 2009 yellow) livery. The bus network is integrated in the Barik card system. Characteristics BizkaiBus is the result of the combination of several companies that offered bus travel services in the province of Biscay, TCSA, CAV, PESA, Encartaciones, Euskotren, Adnor and Autobuses de Lujua. The service is funded by the authority of Biscay or Diputacion Foral and operates as many as 100 bus lines. Some of the lines are seasonal, and only operate during certain months, for example a number of summer season lines to beach areas. Various bus companies have steadily joined the Bizkaibus consortium over the years. The bus lines of EuskoTren joined in the year 2002, Adnor joined in 2005, and Autobuses de Lujua in 2006. Leioa (Metro Bilbao)
Leioa is a station on line 1 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Udondo, in the municipality of Leioa. The station opened as part of the metro on 11 November 1995, replacing an older station. It is located next to a park and ride facility. History The station wasn't part of the Bilbao-Las Arenas railway when it opened in 1887. It was built in the mid-twentieth century as an infill station. Starting in 1947, the narrow-gauge railway companies that operated within the Bilbao metropolitan area were merged to become ''Ferrocarriles y Transportes Suburbanos'', shortened FTS and the first precedent of today's Bilbao metro. In 1977, the FTS network was transferred to the public company FEVE and in 1982 to the recently created Basque Railways. In the 1980s it was decided the station, just like most of the former railway line, would be integrated into line 1 of the metro. Larreineta Funicular
The Larreineta funicular ( eu, Larreinetako funikularra; es, Funicular de Larreineta) is a funicular railway in the municipality of Valle de Trápaga-Trapagaran in the Basque Country, Spain. It links the downtown with the neighborhood of Larreineta. History The construction of the funicular was first proposed in 1912. Construction started in 1920 and after several delays, it was inaugurated in 1926. Originally, it carried both passengers and freight. Artxanda Funicular
The Artxanda Funicular ( eu, Artxandako funikularra; es, Funicular de Artxanda) is a funicular railway in the city of Bilbao in Spain's Basque Country. It links downtown Bilbao with the recreational area at the summit of the nearby Artxanda Mountain, which has a park, several restaurants, a hotel, a sports complex, and offers panoramic views of the city. History A cable railway to the top of the Artxanda mountain was first proposed in 1901, but not built due to lack of finance. The current funicular was opened in 1915. During the Spanish Civil War the funicular was damaged by bombing, but reopened in 1938. The funicular closed in 1976 after an accident that injured several employees of the operating company, and did not reopen again until April 1983. The line was closed again in August of the same year, as a result of flood damage, and did not reopen until November. Vizcaya Bridge
The Vizcaya Bridge (''Bizkaiko Zubia'' in Basque, ''Puente de Vizcaya'' in Spanish) is a transporter bridge that links the towns of Portugalete and Las Arenas (part of Getxo) in the Biscay province of Spain, crossing the mouth of the Nervion River. People in the area, and even the official website, commonly call it the Puente Colgante (literally "hanging bridge", used for ''suspension bridge'' in Spanish), although its structure is quite different from a suspension bridge. History The Vizcaya Bridge was built to connect the two banks which are situated at the mouth of the Nervion River. It is the world's oldest transporter bridge and was built in 1893, designed by Alberto Palacio, one of Gustave Eiffel's disciples. Leioa ( es, Lejona) is a municipality in Biscay, Basque Country, in northern Spain. It is located south of Getxo and Berango delimitating east and south with Erandio, Portugalete and Sestao. Sopela
Sopela, formerly known as Sopelana, is a town and municipality located in the province of Biscay, in the autonomous community of Basque Country, northern Spain. The town is roughly 820 hectares in size, located in the comarca Mungialdea on the north east side of Bilbao and due east of the Nervión river estuary. In the municipality, other former towns like Larrabasterra were annexed to make Sopela larger. The population is 13,878 people, as recorded in the 2019 census. Barakaldo ( es, Baracaldo; eu, Barakaldo ) is a municipality located in the Biscay province in the Basque Country. Located on the Left Bank of the Estuary of Bilbao, the city is part of Greater Bilbao, has a population at 100,881. Kbus
MBus is a computer bus designed and implemented by Sun Microsystems for communication between high speed computer system components, such as the central processing unit, motherboard and main memory. SBus is used in the same machines to connect add-on cards to the motherboard. MBus was first used in Sun's first multiprocessor SPARC-based system, the SPARCserver 600MP series (launched in 1991), and later found use in the SPARCstation 10 and SPARCstation 20 workstations. Erandio
Erandio is a town and municipality located in the province of Biscay, in the autonomous community of Basque Country, northern Spain. The name comes from euskera ARANDIO that means plum plantation or field. In 1415, during the War of the Bands, the ''corregidor'', the royally-appointed governor of the Biscayan '' hermandad'', acting on royal orders, siphoned off Biscayan wheat to the Asturias, inciting a rebellion. The Biscayans were defeated at Erandio with the loss of sixty men and the wheat transfers continued. Festivals Several annual festivals are celebrated in Erandio.
