Baptist Union Of Poland
The Baptist Union of Poland (or ''Union of Christian Baptists'') is an association of Baptist churches in the country of Poland. It is a member of the Polish Ecumenical Council, the European Baptist Federation and the Baptist World Alliance. The headquarters is in Warsaw. History Modern Baptist work began in Poland in 1844. The first typical Polish congregation was formed in the village of Zelow in 1872. Polish Baptists adopted the ''German Baptist Confession of 1847'' as their own confession. In 1922, the ''Union of Slavic Baptists in Poland'' was formed, and the ''Union of the Baptist Churches of the German Language'' was formed in 1928.Robert E. Szczytno
Szczytno (german: Ortelsburg) is a town in northeastern Poland with 27,970 inhabitants (2004). Szczytno is situated in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodship (since 1999), but was previously in Olsztyn Voivodship (1975-1998). It is located within the historic region of Masuria. Protestantism in Poland is the third largest faith in Poland, after the Roman Catholic Church (32,440,722) and the Polish Orthodox Church (503,996). As of 2018 there were 103 registered Protestant denominations in Poland. Most Protestants (mainly Lutherans) in the country live in historically Protestant regions such as Cieszyn Silesia and Warmia-Masuria and in major urban areas. The believers' Church is a theological doctrine of Evangelical Christianity that teaches that one becomes a member of the Church by new birth and profession of faith. Adherence to this doctrine is a common feature of defining an Evangelical Christian church. History This doctrine has its origin in the Radical Reformation within Anabaptism. The Brotherhood of Independent Baptist Churches and Ministries of Ukraine was officially founded and registered in Ukraine in 1993. Structure The foundation of this new Baptist Union was organized and initiated by a group of churches, which for nearly thirty years had been active members of the Union of Churches movement.
