Banarasi Babu () is a 1997 Indian Hindi comedy film directed by David Dhawan. The film stars Govinda, Ramya, Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor and Bindu. The film was inspired by William Shakespeare's ''The Taming of the Shrew'' and the 1972 Tamil movie ''Pattikada Pattanama''. Plot Gopi (Govinda) is a simple man from Banaras. He marries a returning emigrant, Madhu (Ramya). He is the family-oriented and loyal. She is a daredevil, happy-go-lucky type. He represents the Indian values. David Dhawan (born Rajinder Dhawan; 16 August 1951) is an Indian director of Hindi films. A member of the Dhawan family, he has directed over 42 films. The 1993 action thriller '' Aankhen'' and 1999 comedy '' Biwi No.1'' earned him two Filmfare Award for Best Director nominations. Sameer (lyricist)
Shitala Pandey, better known as Sameer Anjaan, is an Indian lyricist, writing songs such as "Mujhe Raat Din Bas", predominantly in Hindi language films. He is a Guinness World Record holder for writing the most songs. He was awarded this honor on 17 February 2016. His father is the famed Hindi lyricist, Lalji "Anjaan" Pandey. He has won three Filmfare Awards. Biography Sameer, officially named sameer Pandey, but commonly known by his nickname Rajan, was born near Banaras, Uttar Pradesh. Poornima Shrestha (born 6 September 1960 as Sushma Shrestha), is an Indian playback singer. Starting as a child singer, she later reinvented into a leading playback singer in Bollywood during the 1990s. She started her career as a child singer in '' Andaz'' (1971) under music director duo Shankar Jaikishan for the hit song "Hai Na Bolo Bolo" alongside Mohammed Rafi and Suman Kalyanpur. Vinod Rathod (born 12 September 1962) is an Indian playback singer who primarily sings in Bollywood films. Rathod is the son of late classical musician, Pandit Chaturbhuj Rathod. Music career His career started when Usha Khanna after listening to his voice in a cassette called him in April 1986, to sing a qawwali, "Mere Dil Main Hai Andhera, Koi Shamma To Jala De" in Do Yaar.
