Baie Verte, New Brunswick
Baie Verte is a community in Westmorland County in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. Of French origin: "...from the salt water grasses which in the summer make the bay look like an immense meadow" (Ganong). Variations: Franquelin, 1686-Baye Verte; Moll, 1715-Green Bay; Haliburton, 1829-Bay Verte. The community is situated near the Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island and is surrounded by a large area of salt marsh with much wildlife including birds, deer and skunks. It is home to the Winegarden Estate vineyard and the Waterfowl Village. The local service district of Baie-Verte takes its name from the community but with slight difference in spelling. Baie Verte, Newfoundland And Labrador
Baie Verte ( 2021 Population 1,311) is a town located on the north coast of the island portion of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador on the Baie Verte Peninsula. The French named the area for its greenness, "green bay." Geography Baie Verte is one of 42 communities that make up the Emerald Zone which is located in the North Central portion of Newfoundland. Baie Verte dates to the late 19th century, but remained a small village until the discovery of asbestos and other ore bodies of copper, lead, zinc and gold in the mid-1950s when the town underwent major expansion. Bowering Brother's steamers called in the area in the 1950s to transport the ore found here. It became a town in 1968. Baie Verte (Northumberland Strait)
Baie Verte is a Canadian bay located on the north shore of Nova Scotia and eastern shore of New Brunswick. It is a sub-basin of the Northumberland Strait. Description Baie Verte is one of the larger bays of the Northumberland Strait with its northerly limits at Cape Tormentine, a headland located immediately south of the community of Cape Tormentine, and its southerly limits at Aggermore Point, a headland located west of the community of Amherst Shore. It opens directly north and east onto the Northumberland Strait while its northern shore is formed by New Brunswick and its southern shore is formed by Nova Scotia. Islands The only island of note is Ephraim Island, located in Upper Cape, New Brunswick. Marine and wildlife Baie Verte is home to nesting colonies of sea birds and is a nursery area for fin and shell fishes. Nova Central School District
Nova Central School District was a school district headquartered in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, Gander in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The district had 66 schools located in 50 different communities, and served about 13,000 students, including a significant rural population. The District was formed by the merger of the Lewisporte-Gander and Baie Verte-Central-Connaigre school boards in 2004. The largest school in the district was Gander Academy. Baie Verte Peninsula
The Baie Verte Peninsula is a large peninsula on the north central coast of the island of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Baie Verte Peninsula is a geologically complex area on the northwest coast of Newfoundland. The region is composed of multiple geological domains and has undergone extensive tectonic activity, uplift, and deformation, producing multiple unconformity surfaces. In addition, multiple phases of intrusion, some with volcanic cover sequences, add to the complexity of the geological model. The peninsula is home to many communities, the largest is Baie Verte where it gets its name. The Rambler area, of the Baie Verte Peninsula, has a long history of mineral exploration dating back to 1903 when local prospector Enos England first discovered the ‘England Vein’.
