The Bahrain Championship is an upcoming professional golf tournament due to be played on the European Tour. The tournament was revealed as part of the 2024 European Tour schedule announcement in August 2023. In January 2024, Bapco Energies was announced as the presenting title sponsor for the inaugural event. Dylan Frittelli won the inaugural event, winning by two shots ahead of Zander Lombard Zander Lombard (born 18 January 1995) is a South African professional golfer. The European Tour (currently known as the DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons), legally the PGA European Tour is the leading men's professional golf tour in Europe. The organisation also operates the European Senior Tour (for players aged fifty or older) and the developmental Challenge Tour; the second tier of men’s professional golf in Europe. The tour's headquarters are at the Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, Surrey, England. Stroke play, also known as medal play, is a scoring system in the sport of golf in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In stroke play, the winner is the player who has taken the fewest strokes over the course of the round, or rounds. Dylan Frittelli
Dylan Ashley Frittelli (born 5 June 1990) is a South African professional golfer. He currently plays on the PGA Tour where he won the John Deere Classic in 2019. He previously played on the European Tour where he won twice in 2017, the Lyoness Open and the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Amateur career Frittelli won the 2007 Callaway Junior World Golf Championships for boys aged 15 to 17. Frittelli played college golf at the University of Texas, where he won the decisive match to lead his team to victory at the 2012 NCAA Championship. He represented South Africa in the Eisenhower Trophy in 2008 and 2010. Professional career Frittelli turned professional after the 2012 NCAA Championship and played on the European Tour via sponsors exemptions for the rest of the year. The 2024 European Tour, titled as the 2024 DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons, is the 53rd season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. Zander Lombard (born 18 January 1995) is a South African professional golfer. Amateur career As an amateur, Lombard won several events in Africa and represented South Africa in the Eisenhower Trophy in 2012 and 2014. In 2014, he was runner-up at The Amateur Championship, losing to Bradley Neil in the final, 2 and 1. He turned professional in late 2014. Bo Jesper Svensson (born 14 March 1996) is a Swedish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. In 2023, he won the B-NL Challenge Trophy on the Challenge Tour and was runner-up at the Investec South African Open Championship. Early life and amateur career Svensson was born in Uppsala, Sweden.
