Doha ( ar, الدوحة, ad-Dawḥa or ''ad-Dōḥa'') is the capital city and main financial hub of Qatar. Donald Thomas (high Jumper)
Donald Thomas (born 1 July 1984) is a Bahamian high jumper from Freeport, Bahamas. Biography Thomas initially played basketball at Bishop Michael Eldon School in Freeport Bahamas, before taking up high jump in January 2006 while studying at Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Missouri, where he played on the University's basketball team. He tried high jump for the first time when challenged by members of the track and field team, who were reacting to his claims about his ability to slam dunk. Thomas cleared 6'6" (1.98 m) on his first attempt and 7' (2.13 m) on his third ever jump. The athletes then sought the head track coach Lane Lohr, who entered Thomas in a meet two days later at Eastern Illinois University. At the meet he cleared 7'3.25" (2.22 m), on his seventh-ever jump. Shaunae Miller-Uibo
Shaunae Miller-Uibo (born 15 April 1994) is a Bahamian track and field sprinter who competes in the 200 and 400 metres. She is a two-time Olympic champion after winning the women's 400 metres at the 2016 Rio Olympics and again at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She is the 2022 World champion in the event. At the World Athletics Championships Miller-Uibo won silver medals in the 400 m in 2015 and 2019, and a bronze at the 200 m in 2017 when she also placed fourth at her longer distance. In 2022, she won her first world outdoor and indoor 400 m titles. She holds North American records in the 400 m both outdoors and indoors, set in October 2019 and February 2021 respectively. Anthonique Strachan (; born 22 August 1993) is a Bahamian sprinter, is the 2012 100m and 200m World Junior Champion. She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2020 Summer Olympics, in 200 m. and 4 × 400 m relay Career She attended St. Augustine's College in Nassau, Bahamas, and trained with Club Monica Athletics. She trained in Auburn, Alabama under coach Henry Rolle who also coached Kerron Stewart, Darrel Brown and Marc Burns, before moving to Kingston, Jamaica to train with MVP Track and Field Club under coach Stephen Francis. Summary This was the first major championships for Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce after giving birth and the maternity leave in 2017. Here, against the Olympic Champion Elaine Thompson and the defending champion Tori Bowie, Fraser-Pryce dominated the heats and the semi-finals. In the final, she took the lead on the first step and pulled away to a dominating victory in a world-leading time of 10.71. While Marie-Josée Ta Lou was the next fastest out of the blocks, Dina Asher-Smith closed quickly to overtake Ta Lou for a clear silver medal, leaving the defending silver medalist with the bronze. The men's triple jump at the 2019 World Athletics Championships was held at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha from 27 to 29 September 2019. Summary On the second jump of the competition, Will Claye took the lead with a 17.61m. Two jumpers later, Cristian Nápoles went 17.36m, then Pedro Pablo Pichardo, now jumping for Portugal, jumped 17.49m. That held through the round. In the second round, Claye improved to 17.72m and Nápoles improved to 17.38m before Hugues Fabrice Zango bounded into contention with a 17.46m African record. After two rounds, defending everything Christian Taylor had not landed a legal jump. Faced with do or die, Taylor made 17.42m to be allowed to continue in the competition.
