Baghban (2003 Film)
''Baghban'' () is a 2003 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by Ravi Chopra, co-written and produced by B. R. Chopra. It tells the story of an elderly couple, Raj ( Amitabh Bachchan) and Pooja (Hema Malini), who have been married for 40 years. After Raj retires, they reunite with their four sons ( Aman Verma, Samir Soni, Saahil Chadha, and Nasir Khan) to discuss who will support them. None of the sons want to take care of both parents, causing Raj and Pooja to live separately. ''Baghban'' was conceived by producer and co-writer B. R. Chopra during his 1960s trip across Europe, when he visited a retirement home and was inspired by the householders' story. Although the screenplay was finished in 1973, Chopra did not begin production for decades because he was busy with other projects. Ravi Chopra
Ravi Chopra (27 September 1946 – 12 November 2014) was an Indian film and television director, producer and screenwriter. Early life Chopra was the son of producer and director B.R.Chopra and nephew of Yash Chopra. Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra are his cousins. Career Film career Chopra started his career assisting his father B.R. Chopra in films like, '' Dastaan'' (1972) and '' Dhund'' (1973). He also assisted his uncle Yash Chopra in '' Ittefaq'' (1969). Eventually, he made his independent directorial debut with '' Zameer'' (1975), produced under the family banner, B. R. Films. 49th Filmfare Awards
The 49th Filmfare Awards took place on 20 February 2004 at Mumbai. The ceremony was hosted by Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Archana Puran Singh.
