Badminton At The 2018 Asian Games – Women's Team
The badminton women's team tournament at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta took place from 19 to 22 August at Istora Gelora Bung Karno. The draw for the team event was held on 16 August. China team was the reigning champion after winning the gold medal in Incheon and Japan led the seeding. Mongolia withdrew from this event. Japan won the gold medal defeating second seed China 3–1 in the final, Indonesia and Thailand shared the bronze medal after losing in the semi-finals. Akane Yamaguchi lost the first match to Chen Yufei from China 21–15 21–12. In the next bout, Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota beat Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan 21–12, 21–17, to make the team result 1–1. Nozomi Okuhara made it 2–1 for Japan after she beat He Bingjiao 21–16, 19–21, 21–15. Istora Gelora Bung Karno
Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace ( id, Istana Olahraga Gelora Bung Karno, abbreviated as ''Istora''), the formerly name ''Istora Senayan'' is an indoor sporting arena located in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia. The capacity of the arena after 2018 reopening is 7,166. This arena is usually used for badminton tournaments. Its maiden event was the 1961 Thomas Cup. It was also used during the 1962 Asian Games and was renovated to host the 2018 edition. Its first post-renovation event was the 2018 Indonesia Masters. During the latter Games, it hosted the badminton and later stages of basketball events. The arena originally was planned to stage the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and becoming the only Indonesian venue in the three-country joint bid but was moved to a newly-built arena inside the complex. Huang Yaqiong
Huang Yaqiong (, born 28 February 1994) is a Chinese badminton player who specializes in doubles. She won the prestigious All England Open in 2017 partnered with Lu Kai, and in 2019 with Zheng Siwei. Together with Lu, she emerged as the champion at the 2017 Asian Championships. With her current partner Zheng, she won the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, and claimed the BWF World Championships titles in 2018, 2019, and 2022. Gregoria Mariska Tunjung
Gregoria Mariska Tunjung Cahyaningsih (born 11 August 1999) is an Indonesian badminton player who plays in the singles event. Her club is PB. Mutiara Cardinal in Bandung, West Java, and entered the national team in 2013. She won the girls' singles title at the 2017 World Junior Championships. Debby Susanto (born 3 May 1989) is an Indonesian former badminton player who specializes in doubles. She joined PB Djarum, a badminton club in Kudus, Central Java from 2006 until her retirement. She and Greysia Polii are the reigning Olympic champions in the women's doubles following their win at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Greysia Polii (; born 11 August 1987) is an Indonesian former badminton player specializing in doubles. She won gold medals in the women's doubles at the 2014 Asian Games, at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games and at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
