Badminton At The 2014 Commonwealth Games
Badminton events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games took place between Thursday 24 July and Sunday 3 August at the newly built Emirates Arena, in Glasgow. Badminton is one of ten core sports at the Commonwealth Games and has been continuously held at the Games since its first appearance at the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica. The badminton programme in 2014 included men's and women's singles competitions; men's, women's and mixed doubles competitions alongside a mixed team event throughout the 11 days of competition. The draw for the tournament was held on 21 July in Glasgow. Badminton At The 2014 Commonwealth Games – Mixed Team
The mixed team badminton event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games was held from July 24 to July 28 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow. The teams were drawn into group stage draw. The top team in each group along with the two best runners-up advanced to the knockout round. The draw for the competition was done on July 21, 2014. This was Malaysia's third consecutive gold medal in the mixed team event at the Commonwealth Games. England took silver for the second time and Singapore took bronze, their first medal ever in the mixed team event. Vivian Hoo
Vivian Hoo Kah Mun (; Pha̍k-fa-sṳ: ''Hí Kâ-vùn''; born 19 March 1990) is a Malaysian badminton player. Career Teamed-up with Woon Khe Wei in the women's doubles event, they reached top 10 BWF World Ranking. Being a regular women's doubles player, Hoo has won the Commonwealth Games women's doubles event twice, first with her regular partner, Woon, at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and a second time with Chow Mei Kuan at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. Peter Mills (badminton)
Peter Mills (born 31 March 1988) is an English badminton player who specializes in doubles. He started playing badminton in Southwell Junior Badminton Club at age 8, and became the England national badminton team at age 19. In 2007, he won the European Junior Badminton Championships in the boys' doubles event with Chris Adcock. He competed for England in the men's doubles and mixed team events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won a bronze and silver medal respectively. Christopher Phillip Langridge (born 2 May 1985) is a retired British badminton player. He competed for England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won three medals. He represented Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Olympics, and won a bronze medal in the men's doubles, partnered with Marcus Ellis. They also won gold medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2019 European Games. Early life and education Chris Langridge was born on 2 May 1985 in Epsom, Surrey. Langridge was educated at Therfield School, a state comprehensive school in the town of Leatherhead in Surrey in southern England. The school were twice National Schools champions. Langridge was introduced to badminton when he was ten by his teacher Jackie Cunningham who was a badminton coach of the county, and within 18 months at the age of twelve he made the England team. Chayut Triyachart
Chayut Triyachart (born 9 October 1989) is a Thai-born Singaporean former badminton player. At the Commonwealth Games, he won a silver medal in the 2014 men's doubles, and two bronze medals in the 2014 mixed team and 2010 mixed doubles. Danny Bawa Chrisnanta (born 30 December 1988) is a retired Singaporean badminton player. Career Danny competed at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games, where he captured a bronze medal in the mixed team and a silver medal in the men's doubles events in 2014. Goh V Shem (; born Goh Wei Shem, 20 May 1989) is a Malaysian badminton player in the doubles event. He was partnered with Tan Wee Kiong after their outstanding performance at the 2014 Thomas Cup. Together, Goh and Tan won the gold medal for the men's doubles event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games as well as all their matches in the mixed team event, helping Malaysia retain the gold medal for the third consecutive time. Tan Wee Kiong (; born 21 May 1989) is a Malaysian badminton player in the doubles event. He is well-known for his former partnership with Goh V Shem, which began at the 2014 Thomas Cup. Michelle Li (born November 3, 1991) is a Canadian badminton player from Markham, Ontario. Li is the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion and the first Canadian to win an individual gold medal in women's singles badminton at the Commonwealth Games. Rajah Menuri Venkata Gurusaidutt or R. M. V. Gurusaidutt or Gurusai Dutt born (on 1 March 1990) to RMV Bharadwaj and RM Anjana is a badminton player from India.
