Badminton At The 2023 Pan American Games – Men's Doubles
The men's doubles badminton event at the 2023 Pan American Games was held from October 22 to 25 at the Olympic Training Center, located in Ñuñoa, a suburb of Santiago. The defending Badminton at the 2019 Pan American Games – Men's doubles, Pan American Games champion are Jason Ho-Shue and Nyl Yakura of Canada. Ho-Shue has since retired and Yakura will be competing with a different partner Adam Dong. Each National Olympic Committee could enter a maximum of two pairs into the competition. The athletes will be drawn into an elimination stage draw. Once a pair lost a match, they will be no longer able to compete. Each match will be contested as the best of three games. A total of 28 athletes from 12 NOC's competed. Qualification A total of 90 athletes (45 men and 45 women) qualified to compete at the games. Adam Dong
Adam Dong (; born 14 February 1994) is a Chinese-born Canadian badminton player. He captured the men's doubles gold medals at the 2023 Pan American Games and at the 2023 Pan Am Championships. Early life Dong was born in Suzhou, China. Before moving to Canada, he competed in the 2011 National Intercity Games of the People's Republic of China and won a gold in the badminton men's team event representing Nanjing. Career Dong entered the Canadian national team in 2016. On that same year, he partnered with Nyl Yakura. After the duo split up, he formed partnerships with Guoxing Huang and David Wu. He later partnered with Yakura again in 2021 and they won their first international title together at the Mexican International Series. In 2022, Dong and Yakura won bronze at the 2022 Pan Am Championships. Dong also represented Canada at the 2022 Thomas & Uber Cup. Badminton Pan Am
The Badminton Pan Am (BPA) organisation is the governing body for the sport of badminton in the Americas and is recognized as such by the Badminton World Federation - BWF. It was founded as a continental governing body on February 13, 1976 in the headquarters of the Mexican Olympic Committee in Mexico City. The Pan American Badminton Confederation was founded by Badminton Canada, the Jamaica Badminton Association, Federacion Mexicana de Badminton, Comision Nacional de Badminton Peru and the United States Badminton Association. BPAC was founded in Mexico City in 1976 and had nominated Victor Jaramillo of Mexico as President until an official election was scheduled to take place at the first Pan Am Championships the following year.
