Riocentro
Riocentro is an exhibition and convention center located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Built in 1977, it is the largest exhibition center in Latin America. Notable events 1981 May Day attack On April 30, 1981, during a May Day music concert, Riocentro was the target of a terrorist attack by hardliner members of the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964–1985). Sergeant Guilherme Pereira do Rosário and then-Captain Wilson Dias Machado, nowadays a Colonel, were responsible for detonating two bombs at the venue. Around 9 p.m., however, one of the bombs exploded in the lap of Sergeant Rosário, killing him and seriously wounding Machado. A second bomb exploded a few miles away at a powerhouse responsible for providing electrical energy to Riocentro; it was thrown over the fence and exploded on the ground, and the electric power supply was never interrupted that evening. Selena Piek (born 30 September 1991) is a Dutch badminton player who specializes in doubles. Her current partner is Cheryl Seinen for women's doubles and Robin Tabeling for mixed doubles. She won the 2014 and 2015 editions of Dutch National Badminton Championships with Eefje Muskens. She has also won the mixed doubles national championships title since 2012 with three different partners. Lauren Smith (born 26 September 1991) is an English badminton player. She competed for England in the women's doubles and mixed team events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where she won a bronze and silver medal respectively. In 2016, she represented Great Britain at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Teamed-up with Gabby Adcock, she won the women's doubles gold medals at the English National Badminton Championships in 2013 and 2014. Heather Olver (born 15 March 1986) is an English badminton player.
