These are the results of the men's singles competition in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens Athens ( ; el, Αθήνα, Athína ; grc, Ἀθῆναι, Athênai (pl.) ) is both the capital and largest city of Greece. Matches were played using a best-of-three games format. Games were played to 15 points, using the old scoring system. Each game had to be won by a margin of two points. Career Joppien played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's singles, defeating Kasperi Salo of Finland in the first round. Park Tae-sang (Hangul: 박태상; born June 20, 1979) is a retired South Korean professional badminton player. After retiring as a badminton player, he decided to become a coach, starting his career with South Korean national team. Career 2004 Park played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's singles, defeating Abhinn Shyam Gupta of India and Bao Chunlai of China in the first two rounds. In the quarterfinals, Park was defeated by Soni Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia 15-13, 15-4. Biography Yang played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's singles, losing in the round of 32 to Jim Ronny Andersen of Norway. He is the bronze medalists at the 2011 and 2015 BWF World Senior Championships, 2015 World Senior Championships in the men's singles 35+ event. Nikhil Kanetkar (born 13 May 1979) is the only Olympic badminton player from Pune India. Born in a Maharashtrian family, Kanetkar played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's singles, defeating Sergio Llopis of Spain in the first round. In the round of 16, Kanetkar was defeated by Peter Gade of Denmark. Chien Yu-hsiu (; born 29 February 1980) is a former badminton player from the Republic of China. Chien graduated from the National Taiwan Sport University and now works as junior coach in Hsinchu.
