''Back 2 the Game'' is the fourth studio album by American hip hop group Do Or Die. It was released on August 13, 2002, via Rap-A-Lot/Virgin Records. Recording sessions took place at The Legendary Traxster, Inc., at Legit Ballers Studio, at Most Wanted Studio, at Chicago Tracks, and at Chicago Recording Company. Production was handled by The Legendary Traxster, Toxic, Naki and Datanna, with J. Prince serving as executive producer. It features guest appearances from Johnny P., Twista and Yung Buk. The album peaked at No. 64 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and No. 25 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Do or Die is an American Rap music, rap trio originally from the West Garfield Park, Chicago, East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, Chicago, West Side of Chicago, consisting of N.A.R.D., Belo Zero, and AK-47. The group experienced mainstream success with the platinum single "Po Pimp", which peaked at #22 on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Music career 1996: Picture This Do or Die gained a hit with their first single, "Po Pimp". Released on a tiny Chicago label, the track became a local hit and sparked the group's signing by Houston's Rap-A-Lot Records. Carl Terrell Mitchell (born November 27, 1973), better known by his stage name Twista (formerly Tung Twista), is an American rapper and record producer. He is best known for his Chopper (rap), chopper style of rapping and for once holding the title of fastest English-speaking rapper in the world according to Guinness World Records in 1992, being able to pronounce 598 syllables in 55 seconds. In 1997, after appearing on Do or Die (group), Do or Die's hit single "Po Pimp", produced by the Legendary Traxster, Twista signed with Big Beat and Atlantic Records, where he released his third album ''Adrenaline Rush (album), Adrenaline Rush'' and formed the group Speedknot Mobstaz, in 1998. Chris Steinmetz (born 1966) is a record producer and engineer living in Chicago. He is president of Stonecutter Records. Biography Early life Chris Steinmetz was born in 1966 to Kenneth and Virginia Steinmetz in Barrington, Illinois. He began playing guitar at age 12 and played in bands throughout high school. It was during this time that Steinmetz first became interested in audio engineering. While playing a show one night, he was struck by the lower quality of his band's sound compared to the headliners. "Love You Down" is the title of an R&B song written by Melvin Riley Jr. Riley's former band, Ready for the World, originally recorded the song in 1986 and released it as the lead single from their second album, '' Long Time Coming'' produced by Gary Spaniola. William DeVaughn
William Edward DeVaughn Jr. (born November 28, 1947) is an American R&B/soul singer, songwriter and guitarist, best known for the million-selling hit song "Be Thankful for What You Got" in 1974. Biography DeVaughn was a salaried government employee as a drafting technician, and a part-time singer. He wrote a song called "A Cadillac Don't Come Easy", which was eventually re-written to become "Be Thankful for What You Got", in 1972. He spent $900 towards getting it recorded with Omega Sound, a Philadelphia production house. The record's producer at Omega, John Davis (a member of the MFSB studio session group), came up with a smooth arrangement, eventually booking time to record at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia, used by Philadelphia International Records. "Be Thankful for What You Got" is a soul song written and first performed by William DeVaughn.
