Babylon (W.A.S.P. Album)
''Babylon'' is the fourteenth studio album by American Heavy metal music, heavy metal band W.A.S.P. (band), W.A.S.P., released on October 12, 2009. The album was inspired by biblical visions of "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse". The album contains covers of Deep Purple's "Burn" (originally recorded for W.A.S.P's previous album ''Dominator (W.A.S.P. album), Dominator'', but not used for unknown reasons) and Chuck Berry's "Promised Land". "Promised Land" was also covered in 1973 by Elvis Presley, and it was Elvis' version that the band had in mind as demonstrated by the ending comment "How about one of them peanut butter & banana sandwiches." Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. Burn (Deep Purple Song)
"Burn" is a song by United Kingdom, British Rock music, rock band Deep Purple. It was released on Burn (Deep Purple album), the album of the same name in 1974, and was the first single by the Mark III lineup. History "Burn" served as the band's concert opener for the next two years, taking over from "Highway Star (song), Highway Star". It opened Deep Purple's televised set at the California Jam festival two months after its release, on 6 April 1974. Logan Conrad Mader (born November 16, 1970) is a Canadian record producer and current guitarist of melodic death metal band Once Human, as well as the former lead guitarist of groove metal band Machine Head. Mader is most famous for his time in Machine Head, whose 1994 debut ''Burn My Eyes'' was released by Roadrunner Records and quickly became the top-selling debut album in the label's history until Slipknot's debut album. Mike Dupke (pronounced "DUPP-kee") is an American drummer who has played with bands W.A.S.P. and John Mellencamp. Career Early years As an undergraduate at Indiana University School of Music, he studied with drummer Kenny Aronoff. At 19 years old, Dupke played percussion in John Mellencamp's band alongside Kenny for a short time in 1993, performing on the MTV "Human Wheels" special, The Arsenio Hall Show, and the music video for "When Jesus Left Birmingham". Douglas Blair Lucek, better known as Doug Blair (born February 11, 1963) is a heavy metal guitarist and member of W.A.S.P. Blair's early development as a musician took place in his home state of Connecticut. His focus on technical ability with the guitar quickly saw him gaining a reputation locally in the Tri-State area of (NY, NJ, CT). "Promised Land" is a song lyric written by Chuck Berry to the melody of "Wabash Cannonball", an American folk song. The song was first recorded in this version by Berry in 1964 for his album '' St. Louis to Liverpool''. Released in December 1964, it was Berry's first single issued following his prison term for a Mann Act conviction. The record peaked at #41 in the ''Billboard'' charts on January 16, 1965. Ian Anderson Paice (born 29 June 1948) is an English musician, best known as the drummer and last remaining original member of the rock band Deep Purple. He is often cited as one of the greatest drummers of all-time. Ritchie Blackmore
