Babies
An infant or baby is the very young offspring of human beings. ''Infant'' (from the Latin word ''infans'', meaning 'unable to speak' or 'speechless') is a formal or specialised synonym for the common term ''baby''. The terms may also be used to refer to Juvenile (organism), juveniles of other organisms. A newborn is, in colloquial use, an infant who is only hours, days, or up to one month old. In medical contexts, a newborn or neonate (from Latin, ''neonatus'', newborn) is an infant in the first 28 days after birth; the term applies to Preterm birth, premature, Pregnancy#Term, full term, and Postterm pregnancy, postmature infants. Before birth, the offspring is called a fetus. The term ''infant'' is typically applied to very young children under one year of age; however, definitions may vary and may include children up to two years of age. When a human child learns to walk, they are called a toddler instead. Other uses In British English, an ''infant school'' is for children ...

Babies (song)
"Babies" is a song written and released by British rock group Pulp. Featuring lyrics about a boy spying on his friend's sister from a wardrobe, the song features a guitar riff that drummer Nick Banks had played for Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker. Though poppier and lighter than much of the band's earlier material, the band was pleased with the song and was released as a single. "Babies" was first released as a single for Gift Records in 1992, accompanied by a music video directed by Cocker. Though it failed to chart, the song was included on the band's next album, '' His 'n' Hers'' and was later remixed for the '' Sisters EP'' in 1994. This new EP release became a top 20 hit when re-released in 1994, peaking at number 19 on the UK Singles Chart. It has since seen critical acclaim and has been named by many writers as among Pulp's best songs. Background Jarvis Cocker discussed the song with Will Hodgkinson in the 2009 Sky Arts ''Jarvis Cocker: Songbook''. Cocker described the genes ...

The Babies
The Babies was an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York City. History In 2008, Kevin Morby of Woods and Cassie Ramone of the Vivian Girls shared a small apartment in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn for a few months and wrote some songs. After meeting again in a house party, the two decided to start a band. The idea was to recapture the early, stress-free days of playing music before they were both in groups that had gained some success and created accompanying pressures. Despite the intention, nothing much came of the idea until the next winter when both bands again had a break. Justin Sullivan, who had played with Ramone in Bossy, began practicing with them on drums, and The Babies debuted as a three-piece in March 2009 at Dead Herring, their friends’ loft in Brooklyn. They played a few times before asking Nathanial Stark, formerly of Bent Outta Shape, to join on bass, and the full lineup’s first shows were in that summer. The band released self-made tapes and singles for the ...

Babys (mythology)
Babys ( grc, Βάβυς, Bábus) is a figure in Greek mythology. He is the brother of the Phrygian satyr Marsyas who challenged Apollo to a flute-playing contest, and lost to him. Unlike his brother, who owned a double flute, Babys's flute had only one pipe. Perceiving him to be a simpleton who lacked any apparent skill, the goddess Athena persuaded Apollo to spare Babys his anger when the god won the competition, as Babys's playing had been that bad.Plutarch, ''De Proverbiis Alexandrinorum'' 2 See also * Aulos * Midas Midas (; grc-gre, Μίδας) was the name of a king in Phrygia with whom several myths became associated, as well as two later members of the Phrygian royal house. The Babys
The Babys are a British rock group best known for their songs " Isn't It Time" and "Every Time I Think of You". Both songs were composed by Jack Conrad and Ray Kennedy, and each reached No. 13 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and No. 8 on the '' Cashbox'' chart in the late 1970s. The original Babys line-up consisted of founding member keyboardist/guitarist Michael Corby, and, in order of joining the group, vocalist/bassist John Waite, drummer Tony Brock, and guitarist Wally Stocker. The group signed a contract with Chrysalis Records that was the highest ever for a new music act at the time. Two studio albums, ''The Babys'' and ''Broken Heart'', were well received. After recording their third album, ''Head First'', in August 1978, co-founder Michael Corby was replaced by Jonathan Cain as keyboardist and Ricky Phillips took over as bassist. From late 1978 until the breakup in 1981, The Babys line-up consisted of vocalist Waite, drummer Brock, bassist Phillips, guitarist Stocker, ...
