BNN (Dutch Broadcaster)
BNN or Bart's Neverending Network (formerly ''Bart's News Network'', as a pun on CNN) was a Dutch public broadcasting association supported by Netherlands Public Broadcasting. BNN was founded in 1997 by Bart de Graaff, Gerard Timmer and Frank Timmer and targeted teenagers and young adults. It produced entertainment and information television programming, radio programming, and feature films. Some of BNN's programming dealt with controversial subject matter, including most famously, a hoax reality special made to help raise awareness of the shortage of organ donors in the Netherlands. History BNN became a public broadcasting association as a part of the Netherlands Public Broadcasting system on 15 August 1997, replacing former member Veronica TV (HMG), Veronica. Jan Pieter "Jan Peter" Balkenende Jr. (; born 7 May 1956) is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) party and jurist who served as Prime Minister of the Netherlands from 22 July 2002 to 14 October 2010. Bridget Maasland (born 9 November 1974) is a Dutch VJ, television presenter and producer. Career She worked as a model and appeared on the catwalk in fashionshows for children. Her debut on television was a commercial for fruit as a healthy alternative to sweets. Later, Maasland became a professional model, working in Barcelona. Spuiten En Slikken
''Spuiten en Slikken'' () (translated in English as ''Shoot and Swallow'', referring to the different methods of taking drugs, as well as referring to the male orgasm and the act of swallowing semen during sex) was a 2005-2018 Dutch television program on public television about sexuality and drugs. It has been shown on BNN and was highly controversial from the start because numerous drugs and sexual kinks were tried out on television, often with participation from the hosts. In the show, discussions about sex and drugs take place with weekly guests. The discussions are led by Nicolette Kluijver . Filemon Wesselink has tried several types of drugs during the shows and showed and told about the effects they had. In later seasons, Dennis Storm did sex experiments in the show. The show first aired October 10, 2005 and ended in 2018, though its YouTube channel still continues. De Lama's
De Lama's (translation: The Llamas) is a Dutch television show made by BNN and first aired on 26 June 2004. It is an adaptation of the Channel 4 show ''Whose Line is it Anyway?''. Patrick Lodiers hosts the show, which contains both well-known and more obscure elements of theatresports. The most important of these is improvisation. De Lama's consist of the following comedians: Ruben Nicolai, Tijl Beckand, Ruben van der Meer and Jeroen van Koningsbrugge. Jandino Asporaat, Ad-Just Bouwman, Sara Kroos, Arie Koomen, Kristel Zweers and Martijn Oosterhuis are ex-''Lama's''. Unlike the British and American series, every episode of De Lama's features a Guest Llama (''Gast Lama''), a well-known Dutch (or Belgian) person who offers suggestions for games and always joins the regulars for one or two games at the end. Cash Cab (British Game Show)
''Cash Cab'' is a game show that aired on ITV (TV network), ITV in the United Kingdom from 13 June 2005 to 29 June 2006. The original programme that launched the worldwide ''Cash Cab'' franchise, it was hosted by John Moody. The questions were asked in voice over style by Annabel Raftery. The show was devised by Adam Wood and Mat Steiner. Gameplay The show's host initially poses as an ordinary taxi driver and drives around the major cities of the United Kingdom in a cab. The show pays its passengers for correctly answering standard general knowledge questions. Contestants are recruited in advance but are not told that the quiz will be taking place in the cab, so although the "pick-ups" are not as random as they appear on screen, the contestants are genuinely surprised when the taxi turns out to be the ''Cash Cab''. BNN-VARA
BNNVARA () is a broadcasting association and network within the Dutch public broadcasting system. History BNNVARA was founded on 1 January 2014 through a merger of the BNN (founded 1997) and VARA (founded 1925) associations. These continued to exist without broadcasting directly until 2018. In 2011 VARA and BNN announced that they would merge. On 6 November 2011 the members of VARA voted for the merger, after the member council of BNN had already done so a week earlier. The merger was opposed by the VVD and the Freedom Party. BNN and VARA announced on 8 February 2012 that the decision to merge was definite. On 1 September 2018, existing members of BNN and VARA were converted into members of BNNVARA, thus ending the separate member associations that still existed. The Omroepvereniging VARA (), the VARA Broadcasting Association, was a Dutch public broadcasting association primarily operating in the fields of television, radio, publishing and interactive media. It was a member of Netherlands Public Broadcasting. Elena Viacheslavovna Dementieva (, ; born 15 October 1981) is a Russian former professional tennis player. She won the singles gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, having previously won the silver medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
