Balboa High School (California)
Balboa High School, colloquially known as Bal, is an American public high school located near the Excelsior District in the Mission Terrace neighborhood of San Francisco, California. Balboa serves grades nine through 12 as part of the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). Balboa is a comprehensive school located in an urban working class district. It educates a greater proportion of the city's disadvantaged and minority students relative to other city high schools. Mirroring conditions in the areas it serves, the school has a history marked by periods of violence, controversy, and low academic performance. The school motto is "First on the Pacific". The campus is the only historic landmark school in the district and the only one operating in the city. Bal Maiden
A bal maiden, from the Cornish language , a mine, and the English "maiden", a young or unmarried woman, was a female manual labourer working in the mining industries of Cornwall and western Devon, at the south-western extremity of Great Britain. The term has been in use since at least the early 18th century. At least 55,000 women and girls worked as bal maidens, and the actual number is likely to have been much higher. While women worked in coal mines elsewhere in Britain, either on the surface or underground, bal maidens worked only on the surface. It is likely that Cornish women had worked in metal mining since antiquity, but the first records of female mine workers date from the 13th century. The Zvezda Kh-35 (russian: Х-35 , AS-20 'Kayak') is a Soviet turbojet subsonic cruise anti-ship missile. The missile can be launched from helicopters, surface ships and coastal defence batteries with the help of a rocket booster, in which case it is known as ''Uran'' ('Uranus', SS-N-25 'Switchblade', GRAU 3M24) or ''Bal'' (SSC-6 'Sennight', GRAU 3K60). It is designed to attack vessels up to 5,000 tonnes. Development The previous anti-ship missiles made in USSR were highly capable, but they also were large and expensive. Therefore, the Soviet Navy found that a similar, small and very low flying missile would be useful. This new system was planned as small, cheap, and easy to install missile for a variety of platforms. Bal Gopal Shrestha is a cultural anthropologist based in the Netherlands. He was born in Sankhu, a small town near Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and finished his MA (political science) from Tribhuvan University. Later Shrestha completed a PhD in cultural anthropology at Leiden University in 2002. Dr Shrestha has been a Jan Gonda fellow at the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS), Leiden (2001–02), offered to him by The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, Amsterdam. Bal Gopal Maharjan ( ne, बाल गोपाल महर्जन) is a retired Nepali football player who most recently was coaching the Nepal men's national team. He was in the squad which won the historic 1993 SAG gold. Bal Bahadur Rai (बल बहादुर राई) (1921-2010) was the leader of the Nepali Congress political party and a former cabinet minister of Nepal government.
