B-Side Babies
''B-Side Babies'' is a compilation album by English new wave musician Adam Ant, released by Epic Records in 1994. It is not to be confused with ''The B-Sides'', a 7-inch EP of "Friends" b/w "Kick"/"Physical", released by Do It Records in 1982. Consisting primarily of single B-sides—both solo and with the Ants—the collection is described in the following manner on the back cover of the CD: Most of the tracks on this collection were fairly well known to Adam Ant fans, regardless of whether or not they owned any of the singles. "Beat My Guest" was the first song Adam and the Ants played at their debut gig at the ICA restaurant in May 1977. "Fall-In" is an old Ants song from 1977, co-written with Lester Square. "Red Scab", "Juanito the Bandito" and "B-Side Baby" also date back to 1977. Adam Ant
Stuart Leslie Goddard, better known as Adam Ant (born 3 November 1954), is an English singer, musician, and actor. He gained popularity as the lead singer of new wave group Adam and the Ants and later as a solo artist, scoring 10 UK top ten hits from 1980 to 1983, including three UK No. 1 singles. He has also worked as an actor, appearing in many films and television episodes. Born in Marylebone, London, Ant began his musical career playing bass in the band Bazooka Joe. From 1977 to 1982 he performed with Adam and the Ants, and their debut album ''Dirk Wears White Sox'' (1979) reached number one on the UK Independent Albums Chart. Prior to recording his second album as Adam and the Ants, he asked producer Malcolm McLaren to manage his band, who instead took his backing band to form Bow Wow Wow. Adam And The Ants
Adam and the Ants were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. The group existed in two incarnations, both fronted by Adam Ant, over the period 1977 to 1982. The first, founded in May 1977 and known simply as The Ants until November of that year, transitioned from the punk rock to the post-punk and new wave era and released one album. The final line-up of this incarnation—Dave Barbarossa, Matthew Ashman, and Leigh Gorman—left the band in January 1980 at the suggestion of manager Malcolm McLaren to form Bow Wow Wow. The second incarnation of Adam and the Ants featured guitarist Marco Pirroni and drummer/producer Chris Hughes, and was noted for its use of Burundi drums. Goody Two Shoes (song)
"Goody Two Shoes" is the debut solo single by Adam Ant, released on 7 May 1982. History There are two versions of the cover. The first has Adam and the Ants across the top of the sleeve and the later version just Adam Ant. This is probably due to the confusion around the timing of Ant going solo, particularly as the song was performed by three fifths of the band Ant, Pirroni and Hughes. There are also two different studio versions of the song. The UK 7" single version is notably different from the re-recorded version which appears on ''Friend or Foe''. The single version has a different, more reverberating drum track. The ''Friend or Foe'' version, instead of Hughes on drums, features Bogdan Wiczling, drummer on the rest of the album. Ant performed "Goody Two Shoes" at ''Top of the Pops'' on 20 May 1982. B-side Ant sometimes recorded new versions of his pre-1980 compositions for the B-side of his singles. Ant Rap
"Ant Rap" is a song by the British new wave band Adam and the Ants. Written by Adam Ant and Marco Pirroni, the song was remixed from the version on the group's 1981 album ''Prince Charming''. It entered the UK Singles Chart in December 1981 at number 9 before rising to a peak position of number three. Music video The setting for the music video is Bodiam Castle and features Adam wearing a suit of armour in the style of the movie Excalibur (released the same year, and made by the same armourer, Terry English), then a blue American football uniform with the number 57 on the front. While in his American football strip, he crashes through a door, revealing Marco Pirroni sitting at a grand piano dressed as Liberace. Adam then does a Bruce Lee impersonation while rescuing the princess (played by Lulu) before being seen again in his armour. ''Antics in the Forbidden Zone'' is a Greatest Hits compilation and accompanying video by the English new wave musician Adam Ant, released 23 October 1990 by Epic Records. The collection spans the years 1979 to 1985, including Ant's time as frontman of Adam and the Ants with selections from ''Dirk Wears White Sox'' (1979), ''Kings of the Wild Frontier'' (1980), and ''Prince Charming'' (1981), as well as his first three solo albums, ''Friend or Foe'' (1982), ''Strip'' (1983) and ''Vive Le Rock'' (1985).
