B. V. Subba Reddy
Bollavarapu Venkata Subba Reddy, shortly B. V. Subba Reddy B.L. () (4 July 1903 - 7 June 1974), was an Indian independence activist, politician and Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Early life He was son of Ramaswamy Reddy and born at Koilkuntla, Kurnool district on 4 July 1903. After graduating from Noble College, Machilipatnam in 1926, he studied for a Bachelor of Law from Madras University. He started practising in Nandyala and earned a good name. Career He was elected unanimously as the Chairman of Kurnool district Board as a Congress candidate in 1938. He was elected to the post once again in 1949. He participated in the Individual Satyagraha in 1941 and was jailed for 6 months. He also participated in the Quit India movement of 1942 and was arrested and jailed in Tanjore for 3 years. B. V. Subba Reddy resigned to Congress party in 1955 and was elected independently to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He again joined Congress and was elected from the ... Koilkuntla
Koilakuntla (also called as Kovelakuntla, Koyalakuntla, Koilkuntla) is a town in Nandyal district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is Head quarter of Koilakuntla mandal. in Dhone revenue division Geography Koilakuntla is located at . It has an average elevation of 185 meters (610 feet). 85 km south of Kurnool town. There is a famous temple called Panduranga Swamy Temple which is established by king Penukonda Rajullu in 1560-1570.It has pond in front of the temple. Jalagam Vengal Rao or Jalagam Vengala Rao (May 1921 – 12 June 1999) was for much of his life a member of the Indian National Congress and was the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh which is now divided into two states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Early life Rao hailed from Bayyannagudem in Khammam district (currently part of the Telangana state). Career His involvement in politics began when he was in his twenties, when he supported Congress in their campaign of armed defiance against the Nizam of Hyderabad. He was jailed for his involvement in this campaign, which was protesting the tenancy laws operating in the Telangana region. Jai Andhra Movement
Jai Andhra movement is a 1972 political movement in support for the creation of Andhra state in the light of injustices felt by the people of the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema Regions. This was after the HC and SC upheld the Mulki rules in existence at the time. This disenfranchised a vast majority of the population of the state from obtaining jobs in their own state capital. In ensuing protests and police firing eight people were killed. Prominent leaders from Coastal Andhra: Tenneti Viswanadham, Raja Sagi Suryanarayana Raju, Gouthu Latchanna, Jupudi Yegnanarayana, N. Srinivasulu Reddy, B. V. Subba Reddy, Kakani Venkataratnam, Vasantha Nageswara Rao, M. Kurnool district is one of the eight districts in the Rayalaseema region of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
