B.B.C. Amicale Steesel
B.B.C. Amicale Steesel is a Luxembourgish professional basketball club based in Steinsel. The club is one of the most successful in Luxembourg, as Amicale has won seven national championships. History Founded in 1947, BBC Amicale was the first Luxembourg club with its own clubhouse and private sports hall, where the club was based in 1958. These good structural conditions were not initially reflected in sporting performance and it was only in the early-1970s the club established itself as the top team in the highest Luxembourg Basketball League, winning the championship in 1970-71 and 1972-73. Consequently, BBC Amicale fought mainly against the T71 Dudelange for national supremacy and subject to the first mid-70s. The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) (English language: ''Federal Basketball League''), for sponsorship reasons named easyCredit BBL, is the highest level league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 18 teams. A BBL season is split into a league stage and a playoff stage. At the end of the league stage, the top eight teams qualify for the playoff stage, and the teams positioned in the 17th and 18th places are relegated to a lower-tier league. The playoffs are played in a "Best of five" format. The winning team of the final round are crowned the German Champions of that season. In addition to the league competition, all BBL teams compete for the German Basketball Cup. Margus Metstak
Margus Metstak (born June 16, 1961) is a retired Estonian professional basketball player who played mostly at the center position. Club career Early career Margus Metstak started his career at the age of 18 with Tallinn Pedagogical Institute for whom he played in Estonian SSR Championships until the dissolution of the Soviet Union. However, he improved and went on to play professionally for Soviet Union top-flight team Kalev Tallinn. In 1982, only his second year as a professional, the team reached the semi-finals of the Soviet Basketball Cup and took the bronze medal. Alex Laurent
Alex Laurent (born 6 June 1993) is a Luxembourgian-German professional basketball player. He currently plays for BBC Amicale Steinsel. He is also a member of the Luxembourg national basketball team. Professional career From 2012 until 2017, Laurent played for BBC Amicale Steinsel in the Luxembourgian first division Total League. Laurent's best season was the 2013–14 season, in which he averaged 11.4 points in 24.8 minutes per game. In his last two seasons with Amicale, he won the Luxembourgian national championship. On 27 July 2017 Laurent signed with Den Helder Suns of the Dutch Basketball League (DBL). He averaged 11.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in his first year on the team. On 17 July 2018 Laurent re-signed with the squad. In July 2018, he re-signed for another season with Den Helder.
