B-Five Recorder Consort
''B-Five Recorder Consort'' is a European recorder quintet. The centerpiece of the ensemble's programs forms the consort music of the renaissance period. In addition to that the musicians try to establish a new repertoire for recorder quintet in collaboration with different composers. History Founded 2003 in Barcelona. The ensemble appeared at the MAfestival (Bruges), the Klara Festival (Brussels), the Festival de Música Antigua (Barcelona), with NDR (North German Broadcasting Corporation, Hamburg), at the Franconian Summer (Nuremberg), and the Festival of Early Music in St. Ruprecht (Vienna). Recorder (musical Instrument)
The recorder is a family of woodwind musical instruments in the group known as ''internal duct flutes'': flutes with a whistle mouthpiece, also known as fipple flutes. A recorder can be distinguished from other duct flutes by the presence of a thumb-hole for the upper hand and seven finger-holes: three for the upper hand and four for the lower. It is the most prominent duct flute in the western classical tradition. Recorders are made in various sizes with names and compasses roughly corresponding to various vocal ranges. The sizes most commonly in use today are the soprano (also known as descant, lowest note C5), alto (also known as treble, lowest note F4), tenor (lowest note C4), and bass (lowest note F3). Consort Of Instruments
A consort of instruments was a phrase used in England during the 16th and 17th centuries to indicate an instrumental ensemble. These could be of the same or a variety of instruments. Consort music enjoyed considerable popularity at court and in households of the wealthy in the Elizabethan era, and many pieces were written for consorts by the major composers of the period. In the Baroque era consort music was absorbed into chamber music. Definitions and forms The earliest documented example of the English word 'consort' in a musical sense is in George Gascoigne’s ''The Princelye Pleasures'' (1576). Günter Kochan
Günter Kochan (2 October 1930 – 22 February 2009) was a German composer. He studied with Boris Blacher and was a master student for composition with Hanns Eisler. From 1967 until his retirement in 1991, he worked as professor for musical composition at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler". He taught master classes in composition at the Academy of Music and the Academy of Arts, Berlin. He was also secretary of the Music Section of the Academy of Arts from 1972 to 1974 and vice-president of the from 1977 to 1982. Kochan is one of eleven laureates to have been awarded the National Prize of the GDR four times. In addition, he received composition prizes in the US and Eastern Europe. Hans Stadlmair
Hans Stadlmair (3 May 1929 – 13 February 2019) was an Austrian conductor and composer. He conducted the Münchener Kammerorchester for almost four decades. He conducted more than 6000 concerts, many in collaboration with the Bayerischer Rundfunk, including premieres. His compositions include works of all genres except opera. His ''Miró'', an ''Entrada'' for orchestra, premiered at the Gasteig in Munich in 2011, with Christian Thielemann conducting the Münchner Philharmoniker. Carl Rütti
Carl Rütti (born March 24, 1949 in Fribourg) is a notable Swiss composer, who has written much choral music. Life Rütti grew up in Zug, Switzerland. He took his A levels at the monastery school in Engelberg, then studied music at the Zürich Conservatoire, finishing in 1975 with a Solisten-diploma in piano and organ. In 1976 he studied under Kendall Taylor and Richard Latham in London. Some of his compositions for a cappella choir were recorded by the choir of Brompton Oratory, London (1978), and the BBC Singers, and broadcast by the BBC (1982). Since then he has composed a steady output of largely religious choral works, including ''Alpha et Omega'', a Magnificat and Nunc dimittis, the 11-part ''Missa Angelorum'' and a setting of ''O magnum mysterium''. Fabrizio De Rossi Re (born 1 August 1960) is an Italian composer and librettist. He composes operas, symphonic, choral and chamber music, and performs as a pianist. Biography De Rossi Re was born in Rome. He studied at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome under and Raffello Tega.
