B'Ho Kirkland
B'Ho Leon Kirkland (April 9, 1912 – February 20, 2004) was an American football offensive lineman who played in the National Football League. Born in Columbia, Alabama, he played for the University of Alabama from 1931 to 1933 and was a letterman all three years. He was picked up by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1935. He played until 1936. In total, he played in 23 games starting 17 of those. He played with Bear Bryant Paul William "Bear" Bryant (September 11, 1913 – January 26, 1983) was an American college football player and coach. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest college football coaches of all time, and best known as the head coach of the University of Alabama football team. In gridiron football, a lineman is a player who specializes in play at the line of scrimmage. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line.
