Aztec Brewing Company
The Aztec Brewing Company (also known as the Aztec Brewery) was a regional brewery founded in Mexicali, Mexico in 1921, which moved to San Diego, California in 1933. It closed in 1953, and was revived as a brand in 2011. It is the only brewing company ever to move from Mexico to the United States. History Baja California In 1921, San Diego businessmen Edward P. Baker and Herbert Jaffe, and brewing engineer William H. Strouse opened Cervecera Azteca, SA, in Mexicali, the capital city of the Mexican state of Baja California, since Prohibition disallowed them to manufacture, sell or transport alcohol in the United States. The brewery was destroyed by a fire in 1927, but was rebuilt at the same site. Mexicali (; ) is the capital city of the Mexican state of Baja California. Lucky Lager is an American lager with U.S. brewing and distribution rights held by the Pabst Brewing Company. Originally launched in 1934 by the San Francisco-based General Brewing Company, Lucky Lager grew to be one of the prominent beers of the Western United States during the 1950s and 1960s. In 2019, Pabst announced that the beer brand would be revived and would be brewed by 21st Amendment Brewery, a brewery based in San Leandro. Jose Moya Del Pino
José Moya del Piño (1891–1969) was a Spanish-born American painter, muralist and educator. He associated with the Post-impressionists of Spain and the Depression-era muralists in the San Francisco Bay Area. He taught classes at the San Francisco Art Students League, San Francisco Art Institute and the College of Marin. Early life and education José Moya del Pino was born in 1891 in Priego de Cordoba, Spain. He studied art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid from 1908 until 1911. San Diego Brewing Company
The San Diego Brewing Company was a historic brewery in San Diego, California. History The San Diego Brewing Company opened in 1896 as the first commercial brewery in San Diego County. It was financed by wealthy locals including John D. Spreckels and quickly became the largest manufacturing enterprise in the county. It was located on 32nd street in San Diego. It operated on a large scale; in 1906 it added a state-of-the-art, 100-ton compressor for refrigeration. At first the company delivered kegs of beer in horse-drawn wagons; by 1914 it had switched to motor vehicles. The brewery delivered 140,000 barrels a year, locally to saloons and hotel bars, as well as out of town by rail, shipping beer as far as San Francisco and Arizona.
