Aziz Mirza (born 15 August 1947) is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter known for his works in Bollywood and Indian television. Background Mirza was born the son of bollywood script-writer Akhtar Mirza. He is a brother of the film maker Saeed Akhtar Mirza, Saeed Mirza (of ''Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro'' and ''Naseem (film), Naseem'' fame) Career Mirza started his career in 1985 when he joined his brother Saeed Mirza and veteran director Kundan Shah to set a new production company called ''Iskra''. He made his directional debut with the 1989 television serial ''Circus (TV series), Circus'' starring Ashutosh Gowariker and Shah Rukh Khan, Shahrukh Khan, who was a newcomer actor at the time. ''Shree 420'' (also spelled as ''Shri 420''; ) is a 1955 Indian Hindi comedy-drama film directed and produced by Raj Kapoor from a story written by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas whose use of Shree with the negative connotations of 420 caused controversy. The film stars Nargis, Nadira, and Kapoor. The number 420 refers to Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code, which prescribes the punishment for the offence of fraud; hence, "Mr. 420" is a derogatory term for a fraud. The film centers on Raj Kapoor, a poor but educated orphan who comes to Bombay with dreams of success. ''Nukkad'' (English: Street Corner) is an Indian Hindi-language television series that aired on DD National in 1986–87. It was directed by Kundan Shah and Saeed Akhtar Mirza; it was written by Prabodh Joshi and Anil Chaudhary. It starred Dilip Dhawan, Rama Vij, Pavan Malhotra, Sangeeta Naik, Avtar Gill in lead roles. Vidya Balan (pronounced ; born 1 January 1979) is an Indian actress. Known for pioneering a change in the portrayal of women in Hindi cinema with her roles in female-led films, she is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award and seven Filmfare Awards.
