Azerbaijanis in Belarus ( az, Belarus azərbaycanlıları) are a small Azerbaijani diaspora in Belarus, and are Belarusian citizens and permanent residents of ethnic Azerbaijani background. Azerbaijan and Belarus took through centuries and both countries used to be the part of Russian Empire and then Soviet Union. Currently there are over 5,567 (0.1%) Azerbaijanis in Belarus. One of the most well-known TV hosts in Belarus, Leila Ismailava, is also an Azerbaijani. Minsk ( be, Мінск ; russian: Минск) is the capital and the largest city of Belarus, located on the Svislach and the now subterranean Niamiha rivers. Gunesh Alisafayevna Abasova ( az, Günəş Əlisaf qızı Abbasova; be, Гюнэш Алісафаеўна Абасава, ''Hjuneš Alisafajeŭna Abasava''; born 1979), often known simply as Gunesh, is a Belarusian-Azerbaijani singer-songwriter. Relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus are at very high level that Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko describes Azerbaijan as a "saver" of independence and sovereignty of Belarus and adds that "there's not anything close" in Azerbaijani-Belarusian relations. Zabit Samedov ( az, Zabit Səmədov, russian: Забит Самедов, born July 21, 1984) is an Azerbaijani kickboxer and muay thai fighter.
