The City Council of Valladolid (Spanish: ''Ayuntamiento de Valladolid'') is the top-tier administrative and governing body (''ayuntamiento'') of the municipality of Valladolid, Spain. Organization Its organization regime is based on the Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulatory of the Bases of the Local Regime. Integrated by the Mayor and the councillors, the ''ayuntamiento'' is charged with the government and administration of the municipality. The Mayor, who holds the highest representation of the city, directs politics government and administration and presides over the whole corporation as well as the plenary. Valladolid
Valladolid () is a Municipalities of Spain, municipality in Spain and the primary seat of government and de facto capital of the Autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community of Castile and LeĂłn. Plaza Mayor, Valladolid
The Plaza Mayor (English: "Town square") is a central plaza in the city of Valladolid, Spain. It is located only a few blocks away from another famous plaza, the Plaza Zorrilla. History Its existence became defined in the mid-thirteenth century when the market moved from the Plaza de Santa Maria to Market Square, which since the early sixteenth century has been called Plaza Mayor. Individual unions were installed around it, as was the Convent of San Francisco, until 1499 the most important building in the vicinity. After that date, as mandated by the Catholic Monarchs it was the House of the Municipality who presided over the life of the city. Ăscar Puente
Ăscar Puente Santiago (born 15 November 1968) is a Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) politician. He has been a city councillor in Valladolid since 2007 and the city's mayor since 2015. Biography Born in Valladolid, Puente was the son and grandson of socialists. He achieved a master's degree in Political Management in 1992 and a Law degree from the University of Valladolid a year later. After two years of internship, he began practicing law in 1995. Active in the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) from 1990, he began working for the party as a General Vice Secretary in the provincial executive in 2004, having run for secretary general four years earlier. Europa Press
The Europa Press was a publishing house founded and run by the Irish surrealist poet George Reavey. The press was based in Paris from its inception in 1932 until 1935, when Reavey moved to London. It ceased operation in 1939. The Europa Press is important in the history of 20th century Irish poetry because it published early work by Reavey, Brian Coffey, Denis Devlin and Samuel Beckett and in a wider context of literary and surrealist history because it published the first ever collection of English-language versions of work by Paul Ăluard. This was published to coincide with the opening of the International Surrealist Exhibition in 1936 and featured a drawing by Pablo Picasso and a preface by Herbert Read, and the translators included Reavey, Beckett, Devlin, David Gascoyne, Man Ray and Ruthven Todd.
