Ayuko Kato
is a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) who is the current member of the House of Representatives for Yamagata 3rd district. Kato was elected in the 2014 Japanese general election to the same seat as her father Koichi Kato, a longtime member of the House of Representatives for Yamagata Prefecture who had lost the seat in the 2012 general election. Kyōto 3rd district (京都府第3区 ''Kyōto-fu dai-san-ku'' or simply 京都3区 ''Kyōto sanku'') is a constituency of the House of Representatives in the Diet of Japan. It is located in South central Kyoto and consists of Kyoto city's Fushimi ward, the cities of Mukō and Nagaokakyō and the town of Ōyamazaki. As of 2012, 345,260 eligible voters were registered in the district. General elections were held in Japan on 16 December 2012. Voters gave the Liberal Democratic Party a landslide victory, ejecting the Democratic Party from power after three years. Koichi Kato (LDP)
was a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party who held a seat in the House of Representatives in the National Diet for 13 terms between 1972 and 2012. Kato was elected to several districts in Yamagata Prefecture and served as the Director-General of the Japan Defense Agency from 1984 to 1986 and Chief Cabinet Secretary from 1991 to 1992. Kato was a leading member of the Kōchikai faction of the LDP aligned with Prime Ministers Masayoshi Ōhira, Zenkō Suzuki, and Kiichi Miyazawa.
