Ayre United A.F.C.
Ayre United A.F.C. are a football club based in the village of Kirk Andreas, Andreas parish, Ayre in the Isle of Man. They compete in the Isle of Man Football League Canada Life Premier League. They wear tangerine and black strips and play home games at the Andreas Playing Fields in Andreas village. They are Coached by Steven Jauncey, Liam Christian and Elliott Cureton. As well as Eddie Cleator and Dan Fargher for the 2nd team. The Ayre United Captain is Jamie Callister. History The club was formed on 10 April 1967, and applied to play in the Isle of Man Football League Division Two for the 1967–68 season. They finished their first season on just four points. However, within two season they had their first trophy when they won the Woods Cup and the Fred Faragher Cup. The club have been Division Two champions four times. Andreas or ''Kirk Andreas'' ( glv, Andreas) is a village on the Isle of Man, lying in the north of the island, 5 km from the island's second town, Ramsey. There is a large, and nowadays little used, airfield in the vicinity. Location Andreas lies at an altitude of about 20 metres, in the centre of the island's northern plain, in the parish of Andreas, which takes in part of the sandy lands known as the Curragh, and to the north contains low, rounded hills, lying between Port Cranstal and Blue Head. It is located in the north of the island (part of the traditional ''North Side'' division) in the sheading of Ayre. Isle Of Man Football League
The Isle of Man Football League is the senior football league on the Isle of Man and is run by the Isle of Man Football Association. Although the league is affiliated with The Football Association, it does not form a part of the English football league system. History The league's representative XI has won the FA Inter-League Cup on two occasions. In 2006 they beat the Cambridgeshire County League XI and qualified for the 2007 UEFA Regions' Cup, being eliminated in the group stage in Czech Republic. They won the Inter-League Cup again in 2013, but again were eliminated in the group stage of the Regions Cup, this time in Slovakia. Ayre ( ; gv, Inver Ayre) is one of the six sheadings of the Isle of Man. It is located in the north of the island (part of the traditional ''North Side'' division) and consists of the three historic parishes of Andreas, Bride and (Kirk Christ) Lezayre. The town of Ramsey, which is administered separately, covers areas of two historic parishes (Lezayre, and Maughold in the sheading of Garff). It is treated as part of Garff for some purposes, e.g. the coroner. Other settlements in the sheading include Glen Auldyn and Sulby (both in the parish of Lezayre). Etymology The derivation of the word ''ayre'' is from Old Norse "eyrr", meaning a shingle beach. The Bowl (Douglas)
The King George V Bowl (commonly known as The Bowl) is a multi-use stadium in Douglas, Isle of Man, and the home of F.C. Isle of Man. With a capacity of 3,350, a third of which are under cover, and a viewing platform for disabled users, it is the largest stadium on the Island.
