Ayman Alatar
Ayman Alatar ( ar, أيمن الأعتر; born 6 March 1982) is a Libyan singer of Arabic pop music. He was the winner of ''SuperStar'', Season 2, 2004, the Arabic version of ''American Idol''. Early life and career Alatar was born in Tripoli. He was the winner of the Libyan song festival 2001, the first edition. He is also nominated for Kora Awards 2016, African music Awards, in the category of “Best Artist of North Africa” with the track “Hal El Awadem”. Ayman was also nominated for Afrima Awards 2016, held in Nigeria in the category of “Best Artist OF North Africa” with the track "Fi Galbi Kalam" from his third album. Alatar released his first album, ''Bahibak'' and a music video of the song “Bahibak” in 2005. Alatar is the first Arabic singer, who is not a native speaker of the khaleeji dialect that released a full album in that dialect. Tripoli (; ar, طرابلس الغرب, translit= Ṭarābulus al-Gharb , translation=Western Tripoli) is the capital and largest city of Libya, with a population of about 1.1 million people in 2019. It is owned by the Rotana Group, established by the Nagro Brothers, Mohammed, Khalid, Waleed, Ahmed and Nezar Nagro later sold to the Saudi prince Al Waleed bin Talal, who sometimes personally signs artists to the label. Arabic pop music or Arab pop music is a subgenre of pop music and Arabic music. Arabic pop is mainly produced and originated in Cairo, Egypt; as Egyptian music genre is by far the most widespread within the region. Also Beirut, Lebanon, and Gulf states come as secondary centers. It is an outgrowth of the Arabic film industry (mainly Egyptian movies), also predominantly located in Cairo. ''Super Star'' ( ar, سوبر ستار) was an Arabic television show based on the popular British show ''Pop Idol'' created by Simon Fuller's 19 Entertainment & developed by Fremantle Media. The show unites the Arab community by democratically choosing the next singing sensation. The show is broadcast worldwide on Future TV, a Lebanese television station. It is also the first ''Idol'' franchise to feature contestants from multiple countries. The show was a huge success. Ali Jaber, the executive manager of Future TV, was quoted as saying "This (program) is the most successful for an Arab television. There isn't a television program that moved the Arab world like that." However, ''SuperStar'' was eclipsed by rival show ''Star Academy'' on LBC in the Middle East, in terms of popularity and ratings, after only its first season. Kora Awards
The KORA All Africa Music Awards are music awards given annually for musical achievement in sub-Saharan Africa. The awards were founded in 1994 by Benin born businessman, Ernest Adjovi, after a discussion in Namibia with the country's President Hage Geingob. The award is named after the kora, a West African plucked chordophone. The awards have been subject to several postponements since 1994 with a variety of reasons given. Problems have arisen with contracts signed, large sums of monies have been paid and the event postponed. In 2011 Adjovi was detained by the Nigerian Police Force with allegations he defrauded three Nigerian bodies. In 2008 Adjovi allegedly accepted S2.5 million for the 2008 Awards to be hosted by the Cross River State Government. He later allegedly struck an agreement with the Lagos State Government for US$7.5 million but the awards were not staged until 2010 in Burkina Faso. All Africa Music Awards (also referred to as AFRIMA) is an annual awards event. The awards event was established by the International Committee AFRIMA, in collaboration with the African Union (AU) to reward and celebrate musical works, talents and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage. Khaliji music (also spelled Khaleeji; ar, الموسيقى الخليجية meaning Gulf music) is the music of Eastern Arabia, the Gulf Arabian states and it is popular across the Arab world. It is traditionally characterized by heavy use of the rebab, oud and other string instruments such as the violin, the occasional use of habbān, and the inclusion of percussion instruments such as the mirwas, tabl, and duff drums. Khaliji music first started as a bedouin tradition with poetry sung by a tribe's shaa'ir, which means poet, usually accompanied by a rebab, the lyrics dealt with tales of honor, love, camel riders, and glory warriors. Union Chapel is a working church, live entertainment venue and charity drop-in centre for the homeless in Islington, London, England.
