Edward Aylmer
Edward Almer or Aylmer (by 1516 – 1574 or later), of Denbigh and Gresford, Denbighshire, was a Welsh politician. He was a younger son of John Almer of Almer, Denbighshire, a sergeant-at-arms at the court of Henry VIII. He was a Justice of the Peace for Denbighshire from 1543 to his death and was appointed High Sheriff of Denbighshire for 1552–53, 1557–58 and 1570–71. He was elected a Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Denbighshire in 1555. He transferred the family seat from Almer to Pant Iocyn (now Pant-yr-Ochain), a house he rebuilt between Gresford and Wrexham using materials salvaged from his previous home. He married Dorothy, the daughter of Sir George Calverley of Lea, Cheshire and widow of Robert Bostock of Churton, Cheshire. They had 5 sons and 3 daughters. Aylmer Firebrace
Commander Sir Aylmer Newton George Firebrace, (17 June 1886 – 8 June 1972) was a British Royal Navy officer and fire chief. As a Royal Navy officer, he saw active service in World War I and participated in the Battle of Jutland. Following the war, he joined the London Fire Brigade and rose to become its Commander. With the creation of the National Fire Service, he became the first and only person to head firefighting across the whole of Great Britain. Early life Firebrace was born on 17 June 1886 in Southsea, Hampshire, England. Sir Ronald Aylmer Fisher (17 February 1890 – 29 July 1962) was a British polymath who was active as a mathematician, statistician, biologist, geneticist, and academic. For his work in statistics, he has been described as "a genius who almost single-handedly created the foundations for modern statistical science" and "the single most important figure in 20th century statistics". "The Birth-Mark" is a short story by American author Nathaniel Hawthorne. The tale examines obsession with human perfection. It was first published in the March 1843 edition of ''The Pioneer'' and later appeared in ''Mosses from an Old Manse'', a collection of Hawthorne's short stories published in 1846. Baron Aylmer
Lord Aylmer, Baron of Balrath, in the County of Meath, is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1718 for the naval commander Matthew Aylmer, the second son of Sir Christopher Aylmer, 1st Baronet, of Balrath (see below). Lord Aylmer's son, the second Baron, represented Rye in the House of Commons. The latter's grandson, the fourth Baron, succeeded his kinsman as seventh Baronet, of Balrath, in 1776. The titles remain united. He was succeeded in both titles by his son, the fifth Baron. He was a general in the Army and served as Governor General of Canada from 1830 to 1835. Lord Aylmer assumed by Royal licence the additional surname of Whitworth in 1825 on the death of his uncle Charles Whitworth, 1st Earl Whitworth. Udolphus Aylmer Coates
Udolphus Aylmer Coates, OBE FRIBA (1908 – 2000) was a British town planner. Life He attended the University of Liverpool. Coates became the first town planning officer for the City of Hull and his new development plan helped the city recover from the blitz. He was also county planning officer for Lancashire. He was President of the Royal Town Planning Institute from 1958-1959. It was during his term that the Royal Town Planning Institute was granted a Royal Charter. He was awarded an OBE in 1963. Aylmer Maude (28 March 1858 – 25 August 1938) and Louise Maude (1855–1939) were English translators of Leo Tolstoy's works, and Aylmer Maude also wrote his friend Tolstoy's biography, ''The Life of Tolstoy''. After living many years in Russia the Maudes spent the rest of their life in England translating Tolstoy's writing and promoting public interest in his work. Aylmer Buesst (28 January 18833 January 1970) was an Australian conductor, teacher and scholar, who spent his career in the United Kingdom. He was mainly associated with opera and vocal music. He also wrote a work on the leitmotifs in Richard Wagner's operas, and he was an authority on heraldry. Biography Aylmer Wilhelmy Buesst was born in 1883 in Melbourne, the son of William Augustus Buesst (1846–1935) and Helen Violette Buesst (née Pett). His brothers were Victor Augustine (1885-1960; a composer), and Tristan Noël Marchand (1894-1982; a soldier, barrister and collector of Australiana). The Buesst family had migrated in the 1870s from Staffordshire in England, "buesst" being an Anglo-Saxon word meaning "stout".
