Axel Härstedt
Karl Axel Härstedt (born February 28, 1987) is a Swedish discus thrower. A member of the Swedish track and field team at the 2015 IAAF World Championships and at the 2016 Summer Olympics, he launched his personal best throw of 66.03 m at a national track and field meet in Helsingborg nearly a month before the Games. Härstedt currently trains for Malmö Athletics Club ( sv, Malmö Allmänna Idrottsförening). In 2016 Härstedt won the gold medal in the men's discus throw at the European Throwing Cup held in Arad, Romania. Härstedt competed for Sweden, along with his fellow countryman Daniel Ståhl, in the men's discus throw at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Athletics (sport)
Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and racewalking. The results of racing events are decided by finishing position (or time, where measured), while the jumps and throws are won by the athlete that achieves the highest or furthest measurement from a series of attempts. The simplicity of the competitions, and the lack of a need for expensive equipment, makes athletics one of the most common types of sports in the world. 2016 European Athletics Championships
The 2016 European Athletics Championships was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, between 6 and 10 July 2016. It was the first time the Netherlands hosted the event. Due to 2016 being an Olympic year, there was no racewalking and the marathon competition was replaced by half marathon. The Russian team did not participate due to the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation by the International Association of Athletics Federations. However, Yuliya Stepanova was individually cleared by the IAAF to compete as an independent athlete; she participated in the European championships under the flag of the European Athletic Association. 2015 World Championships In Athletics – Men's Discus Throw
The men's discus throw at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Beijing National Stadium on 27 and 29 August. In the trials, it took Fedrick Dacres one toss to make an automatic qualifier, Małachowski took three attempts to do, but nobody else could get there.
