Awaroa River (Far North)
The Awaroa River is a short river in the Far North District of New Zealand. It is south of Kaitaia, and flows southwest for , reaching the Tasman Sea to the north of the Hokianga Harbour. Its estuary forms one of the two arms of Whangape Harbour (the other being the estuary of the Rotokakahi River). The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "long river" for ''Awaroa''. Kaipara District
The Kaipara District is located in the Northland Region in northern New Zealand. History Kaipara District was formed through the 1989 New Zealand local government reforms and was constituted on 1 November 1989. It was made up of five former boroughs and counties: all of Hobson County, Dargaville Borough, Otamatea County, and parts of Rodney County and Whangarei County. In addition, it took over the functions of the Raupo Drainage Board, Kaiwaka Reserve Board, and the Pahi Reserve Boards. Geography Kaipara District is located in the rolling hills around the northern shores of the Kaipara Harbour, a large natural harbour open to the Tasman Sea. Kaipara District Council shares management of the harbour with various other organisations, most notably Northland Regional Council (in the north) and Auckland Council to the south. The Awaroa River is a short river in the Waikato District of New Zealand's North Island. It flows east from its source in the dunes near Karioitahi Beach and Lake Puketi, then south from Waiuku joining with the Aka Aka Stream before reaching the Waikato River in its tidal reaches close to Motutieke Island. Despite being only long, its name translates to 'long river'. The Awaroa River is a river in the Ōtorohanga District, on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. It flows north from its source near Te Koraha, through Hauturu to Kawhia Harbour. The river passes through both pasture and indigenous forest. Over half of the river is in forest. The name translates to 'long river'. It is a name used by 33 other locations, including two waterways in Northland ( Awaroa River and another, rather longer, flowing into the Wairoa River), a river north of Kaiteriteri and 9 in Waikato Region ( Awaroa River and 2 streams, flowing into the Waikato, one flowing into Lake Whangape, another into Lake Waahi, another stream flowing into the Piako River, 2 Awaroa Streams in Coromandel, one flowing into Kennedy Bay and a tributary of the Opitonui River).
